I would go on one of the haunted tours http://www.hauntedhistorytours.com/ very interesting, I love the stories they told about the vampires, 'romeo catchers', etc, went on a swamp tour (yes cheezy, but I got to hold a baby gator). Cafe du Monde for beignets, have a muffulata, I found the Nachez riverboat ride a tad boring...I was there to party not sightsee, but those were the things I did get to do that were touristy. Have fun and escape this crappy weather we're having here!

P.S. also go to Pat O'Brien's for a hurricane!
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

just follow the crowds in New Orleans its an awesome town, whatever you do you'll have fun.
Music everywhere even in the streets, you can walk with an open cup and just go from bar to bar.
Get a muffaletta at that little Central Store, a latte for breakfast, see the street vendor area and get your fortune told, visit the cutest little zoo ever, ride the street cars and see the old mansions, take a walkabout and visit an old cemetery with the above ground graves and see Louie's statue. Eat lots of raw oysters, sit on your balcony and watch the drunks.
    Laugh and listen to jazz.
    Wish I was going
    Enjoy!

IF you're going to Bourbon Street, definitely go to the Funky Pirate to see Big Al Carson. Fabulous blues man. Plays every night. Great time.

Check out Care Du Monde. Mother's Restaurant. Green Goddess restaurant. Check out the City Park. Hit Frenchman's Street (any cab can get you there).

If you're a geek like me, you'll go to William Faulkner house (where he wrote a few novels), the apartment where Tennessee Williams wrote "Street Car Named Desire."

    Great town! :D

I'm repeating but I also recommend a Muffaletta from Central Grocery, best sandwhich ever - but hunt down a great po-boy too, Domilises is the best but it's off the beaten path a few miles west of Canal St by the river. I'll also echo Mother's, off of Poydras St. Take a trolley ride down St. Charles to check out all the old mansions. The food & music is all just outstanding, so take advantage, there are so many cool places that you kind of lose track. The quarter doesnt sleep! Have fun, very jealous!
