I enjoy skinny-skiing, going to bullfights on acid...
What list are you getting that info from?
As for their own tickets...I don't think the tickets would be the problem...it would be the venues. Most major venues have exclusivity contracts with promoters/ticket agencies. Outside of a large field in the middle of nowhere...a la the mid 90's tours....they wouldn't really be able to pull that off. It would be awesome if they could though.
When she caught me hangin' out at the Ticketmaster

you are WAY off. i know we all love them, but the truth is pearl jam is not even close to the top half of the list for top selling bands of all time.
Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, U2, Springsteen, Madonna, Bon Jovi are at the top of the list.
Pearl Jam ain't on the the list. they dont tour nearly enough to even be in the conversation

i don't think that green day was saying that pearl jam was dumb for what they were doing, i just think that they were saying that there was an easier way around it. if you think your fans are paying too much for tickets, cut some of your profits.
not too bad of an idea
2010: MSG Night 1 and Night 2
2011: Eddie Vedder Solo in Philly, PJ20 Alpine Valley Day 1 and Day 2.
2012: Berlin Night 1(7/4)
2013: Wrigley Field, Philly 1 and 2
The top 3 is, in order:
1. The Beatles - 1 billion
2. Elvis Presley - 1 billion
3. Michael Jackson - 750 million
To round out the top 5, numbers 4 and 5 are, respectively, ABBA and Queen.
Only the Rolling Stones and Madonna have sold more than 200 million. U2, Springsteen, and Bon Jovi have sold more than 100 million. Pearl Jam has sold over 60 million. Grateful Dead are in the 20-30 million mark.
