Its still hard to believe after all they went through, the attention they brought and look where we are today. no better. now they (TM) have their own scalping site. Its just funny how it could be stopped in an instant, but politicians won't do it. I still hope one day ticketmaster will be no more.

Agreed. I still have the ticket stub from the show. It is huge! 3X5 the irony is that the ticket was hard to obtain so I paid a premium for it then as well.I guess there is no way around it. I am just glad PJ is still kicking ass!

seriously. pearl jam should just have their own tickets, own security for shows, own everything. they are in the top 3, if not the top, selling bands of all time. there has to be plenty of people that would be willing to help them and their DEDICATED fans. think about it, not only do you like pearl jam for their GREAT music, but also b/c you feel invested in their beliefs about politics, life, and ticketmaster. PJ for office.

own tickets?... ive never even thought of something like that... is that a pipe dream or is it somewhat possible? i am completely cleuless when it comes to the behind the scenes stuff (security, promoting, sales, all that shit)... the only thing i kno how to do is buy the tickets and go to the show... If bands could do that it would be the first step in tearing down all this ticketbastard bullshit

I enjoy skinny-skiing, going to bullfights on acid...

What list are you getting that info from?

As for their own tickets...I don't think the tickets would be the problem...it would be the venues. Most major venues have exclusivity contracts with promoters/ticket agencies. Outside of a large field in the middle of nowhere...a la the mid 90's tours....they wouldn't really be able to pull that off. It would be awesome if they could though.

you are WAY off. i know we all love them, but the truth is pearl jam is not even close to the top half of the list for top selling bands of all time.

Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, U2, Springsteen, Madonna, Bon Jovi are at the top of the list.
Pearl Jam ain't on the the list. they dont tour nearly enough to even be in the conversation

one of the members from green day was asked (or maybe it was all three in an interview) about the pearl jam/ticketmaster feud and their solution was simple: pearl jam should cut their profit to lower ticket prices.

i don't think that green day was saying that pearl jam was dumb for what they were doing, i just think that they were saying that there was an easier way around it. if you think your fans are paying too much for tickets, cut some of your profits.

not too bad of an idea

I have heard from an inside source that since the live nation/ticketmaster buyout... live nation will be changing its name to Artist Nation... anyone else hear this?

The top 3 is, in order:

    1. The Beatles - 1 billion
    2. Elvis Presley - 1 billion
    3. Michael Jackson - 750 million

To round out the top 5, numbers 4 and 5 are, respectively, ABBA and Queen.

Only the Rolling Stones and Madonna have sold more than 200 million. U2, Springsteen, and Bon Jovi have sold more than 100 million. Pearl Jam has sold over 60 million. Grateful Dead are in the 20-30 million mark.
