I saw a squirrel eating french fries from a discarded Mickey D's bag yesterday. Made me laugh out loud. My first thought was "what would his mother think?".

I got two Turkey Vultures....a red-tailed hawk....some Barn Swallows.....for today. Yesterday, I had over 42 species of birds.....the species of note were Lark Sparrow and White Pelican......several upland chorus frogs were added to the mix too. The only mammal to make an appearance was an Eastern Gray Squirrel. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0

turkey vultures are pretty cool birds. Ugly as hell, but pretty cool. I start wondering if they know something I don't when I see them circling overhead.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

Do you smell like death?
I worked in a four story office building that had turkey vultures roosting literally three feet outside our office windows in pine trees that grew there. And then the black vultures moved in and made a home on the roof. It was funny watching them interact. They actually went out of their way to avoid each other. Like there was mutual respect there.
I have no idea what attracted all of these vultures to our building. My only guess is the fact that we were about 150 yards or so from major freeway intersections on each side that surely offered a fair amount of roadkill.0 -
