Will PJ play Arizona in the current political climate?

Suppose there is a tour before the current political hot button issues are properly dealt with in Arizona...anyone think PJ would play there?

I hope not and I think not

Yeah when's the last time they went there anyway? Maybe its more likely for them to play there sometime if it keeps up this way though - go and do some rabble rousing - Ed's pretty good at it!

My fiance' is from Phoenix and I am from Utica N.Y. and we live in Albany now. I always joke with her that they will play Albany well before they play Arizona again (kind of hope it's not true, I would love to plan a trip to see Pearl Jam...I mean the future in-laws soon!). :D

I live in AZ and have been wanting them to play here since I moved here...hasn't happened yet!

    Ugh!

I figure if PJ doesn't want to play the 5th largest city in the country (Phoenix) then they must have a reason for it other than immigration.

I guess if I had my choice, I'd rather see them play Alpine!

    Smelly people?
Haven't they played Philly quite a few times over the last 4-5 years? :D

I'd love if they played here. Maybe a small somewhat secret show at the Marquee Theatre or maybe just the Dodge Theater with 10 club tickets would be kick ass. This state is pretty weird politically, I mean it took the NFL for us to even recognize MLK jr. Day.
I’ve seen Pearl Jam 25 times, Eddie Vedder 9 times, and Brad once.

They don't play Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Atlanta, etc...
size of the city obviously doesn't matter to PJ.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

  • I move to AZ 13 years ago from NorCal and it has been a long 7 years waiting for their return to AZ. All the AZ hiatus did was encourage me to travel to cities I have never seen to catch a PJ show. It has been one wild ride! :D

Exactly! I would have never gone to MSG I and II this year if they had visited AZ this year. Thank you, thank you, thank you 10C!!

I haven't heard anything yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if PJ also joined the artist boycott of Arizona.

To the liberals out there: Arizona's immigration law is so dangerous because it gives so much power--with no oversight mind you--to individual police officers to make decisions to arrest or detain based on what is often nothing more than skin color, appearance, or racial biases. Its not that I don't trust individual cops to always do the right thing, but when it comes to racial profiling and cops, history has taught me otherwise.

To the conservatives out there: Arizona's immigration law is so dangerous because it only expands the power of the state (you hate that, remember?), and essentially volunteers local AZ police officers to do the federal government's job (enforcing immigration laws)! Coming from a conservative governor, I found it particularly interesting that while most conservatives profess to hate the expansion of federal power, AZ's governor embraced it by volunteering AZ police officers to provide additional enforcement of federal regulations. Thomas Jefferson is rolling in his grave...

Unfortunately, we live in a nation where truly the only vote that counts is the vote you cast with your dollars. I certainly hope, for only this reason mind you, that PJ decides to play elsewhere until Arizona's immigration law is done away with. Sorry guys. Justice first.

    I totally agree with you

No one should go to or spend money in Arizona except maybe in a National park and/or at hispanic businesses

Arizona is an inherently racist state and should be treated as such with a financial boycott for as long as it takes

You are right. Arizona shouldnt be allowed to deal with an illegal immigration problem that is crippling the state. They should just deal with the people who enter the country illegally and not pay taxes. They are completely wrong for listening to the wishes of their citizens who have to deal with the thousands of illegals who are in their state. The nerve of those people who actually go thru the legal process of entering the country legally, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Well, until Arizona stops being a huge tourism draw for millions of people every year, that won't happen.
People will talk of boycotting AZ, but it's such a small, tiny percentage of people who weren't going to come here in the first place.
I'm against the immigration law, but the whole idea of a state boycott will never work. Even if all the liberals in the country actually formed some serious pact to boycott the state, there still is a huge percentage of people who come here who don't share that view. Keep in mind, the majority of the country supports the law...

Anyways, this thread should probably go on The Train.
I hope they come, but I realize they probably won't.

Then again...who knows!?! Wouldn't be the first time PJ went against what we all thought they stood for...
