Amazing band I had the privilege of seeing 9 times. Front row center for 8 of the shows. Met the singer twice and the bassist once, caught a drumstick. Countless memories. They aren't together anymore but seriously check them out if you haven't heard them. Youtube their song psychopomp

Love Tea Party! Have seen them a few times. Psychopomp is the best song...was listening to that one not that long ago.

Here is my favourite version of it (Jeff Martin solo):

Jeff lives in Australia now, in Perth. he has a kid here. He tours NON-STOP around Australia, and has been to Newcastle 3 times in the last 12 months already! Love 'em. He's got an ego, but when he can sing like that and play like that, I would have a big ego too!

  • funny, I was just listening to the audio from the Live Intimate and Interactive DVD that I have. JM has a new band called The Armada. Sounds JUST like the Tea Party. You can now get it off iTunes, in addition to one of the songs being remixed, but the only place to buy it retail is an Australian website, and it cost me a fortune. Then someone here hooked me up with the deluxe version (so I sent my regular version to a friend in TO), which has an extra cd of a live show they did. Very nice people on this board (in some areas, anyway).

Terrific band, I still regret not going to see them in 2005.

They formed in my hometown of Windsor, Ont. and their drummer jeff Burrows is a deejay on our local rock station....he's around town constantly and saw him at a couple of Sam Roberts' shows the past year. He's in a new band with former I Mother Earth lead singer Edwin, called Crash Karma. My most vivid memory of seeing them live was seeing them get booed off-stage in Toronto during a festival called Edgefest because they were running late and cutting into headliner Tool's time (and rightfully so, Tool played for only 45 minutes, so like 3 songs) Other than that, they did enjoy some moderate success here in Canada (even opened for Ozzy) and lead singer jeff Martin often drew comparisons to Jim Morrison because of his "looks" and voice

  • I saw them several times. My best memory is seeing them at the Winnipeg Arena for a free show at the Red River Ex. The place was packed, and everyone went absolutely nuts during Walk With Me. It was unbelievable. My only regret is missing them during their acoustic tour supporting Alhambra.

Seen them a few times here in Halifax! They kicked ass. I really liked their older stuff. When Temptation came out though, I didn't so much care. The techno was something I didn't like after 2 amazing kick ass records. Jeff Martin also did a few solo act show's here. He opened for Live many year's back. It was pretty cool.

There was a thread over @ the Porch about the Doors & the singer for The Cult bitching about no other artist stepping up & playing vocals with The Doors. Not for nothing but Jeff Martin would so kick ass on the mics & cover Jim Morrison. IMO, so much better then that Cult singer.

yeah, but he's too much of a guitarist to step into just a singer's role. It would look weird to see him with nothing but a mic. And I don't think he likes the Doors that much, from comments he's made in the media about comparisons. At Edgefest one year, he said to the crowd "it was reported in one of your newspapers today (Winnipeg Sun) that we were going to play an entire set of Doors songs. Frankly, we like our songs better". He's kind of arrogant, but I can't imagine the constant questions about that. When their musical influence is most obviously Zeppelin, and not the Doors.

Great song! The first two albums are sweet. As already mentioned, they were pretty big here in Australia and Jeff still travels around doing small club gigs. 3 awesome musicians. Jeff Burrows can seriously hit a kit. Nice and loud and hard : )

Yeah they were pretty big in buffalo, glad I got to see them 9 times. Never a bad show.
Jeff was always a great guy when I met him. He was hammered the second time I met him haha.
    Good times. =D

    ;)

Dig the band, always thought they were severely underlooked by a lot of people!
  • The Tea Party are great. One of my all time favorite songs in "Save Me", especially live. Years ago my band got to play right before them at an outdoor festival thing. I saw them a few times at edgefest as well, tight band with a kick ass drummer.

I completely wore out my Edges of Twilight T-shirt.

Curious, what festival, was it Edgefest? Care to disclose the name of your band? That's really cool, I saw them a couple of times at those Edgefest's back in the 1990s, I loved those days :D

It was a small festival in Tweed Ontario. Tea Party, Econoline Crush, Headstones, The New Meanies. We closed the small stage right before The Tea Party closed the Main Stage. This was many many years ago, my band was called Fishbelly White.

The Edgefests of the 90`s were by far the best. We used to go up the night before and party in the fields where everyone parked, then we would just relax and watch the bands the next day. Good times.
