The Edgefests of the 90`s were by far the best. We used to go up the night before and party in the fields where everyone parked, then we would just relax and watch the bands the next day. Good times.
that's pretty cool man, and I remember Econoline Crush and The New Meanies, they were from Winnipeg right?
I too went to those Edgefest's, well 5 in total, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. I remember them and have gone to wikipedia when I am bored and reminded myself of who played what. I always had a blast and brought different people with me each year, now that I think about it. I too, went up the night before with whoever I was with, sometimes with a tent, sometimes without, and we would park in the lot and crank the tunes and start drinking. The first few years was definitely wilder than the last few, lots of fireworks and more rowdiness, I think someone set a tent on fire, they beefed up security.
Drink all night, pass out at 5:30 get up at 9 AM as the Sun was already baking down on you and those who passed out early were up and making noise. Stand in line for hours to get into the park, and watch bands the rest of the day.
Tea Party headlined one of the shows, I think David Usher was before him, or maybe they played right before Tool in 2001.
I also remember them playing in 1997 before Transmission was released and being blown away by Psychopomp.1998 ~ Barrie

I remember the night that The Tea Party headlined, he was talking about the moon and had a tabla group (from Toronto) on stage with them. That was the best Tea Party show ever, I was stoked afterwards. Sounds like we may have been partying right next to each other. I know I wasn't one of the guys who passed out early haha
Did you see Green Day light the drum kit on fire? Not sure what year that was. I seem to remember one hell of a water bottle bombarding of the stage, I think it was aimed at Collective Soul. Good TimesToronto 06-28-2003

Nope, I was definitley not the ones who passed out early either. Do you remember the year the soccer match at 3 AM broke out?I remember a volleyball match broke out one year too.
I remember watching Green Day, I think it was 1998 that year, they put on a great set, had some dude play a song, and stage dive afterwards, had people dressed up in costumes on stage, did a kickass cover of The Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson. Foo Fighters played right after I believe, and they were highly entertaining too.
I remember Collective Soul's set, that was 1997, right before the Tea Party I believe, and Our Lady Peace as the headliner, oh those halcyon days1998 ~ Barrie

One of my favourites! Splendour Solis is incredible. They should never have abandoned that style. I actually like it better than any single Zep album, its awe inspiringly good. It sounds really good in the Canadian wilderness, not a bad song on it,
Edges of twilight is also one of the finest albums ever. Every song is great, silence, shadows on the mountainside, the badger, the bazaar, walk with me, sister awake, all proper.
Alhambra is the perfect companion to these high water marks, even Time with Roy Harper was worthy.
Nothing they did after compares, hard to imagine however their third disc has nothing on the first two. The halcyon days is the only song I like after that.
The Indie record must be absolutely incredible, I should track that down immediately.0 -
