Interested in seeing some opinions here. Its the song that easily got me, and maaany others into Pearl Jam. In no real order.

1) 03/28/94 - St. Petersburg. Eddie does an unusual, but awesome tag during the solo. The whole song sounds like an intense rush.

2) Pinkpop 92 - Another very intense version. The whole show was inane itself, but this solo is just damn awesome.

3) 12/31/91 - Cow Palace - I just love the jam that goes on during Eddie's crowdsurfing, and how the song just slams right back into it when he gets back on stage.

4) 11/06/00 - Seattle. First time being played since Roskilde and just a powerful emotional version.

I was watching "Imagine" earlier today, and damn thats also a great version.

I can't pick. I love when Mike drops War Pigs in there towards the end though. I can't think of specific shows at the moment. I love this song so much. It's just such a classic.

    My favs:

Boston II 7-3-2003: very powerful version. Crowd sings most of the bridge and last chorus then at about 3:30, Eddie says "This is where its real" and just belts out "we're all still alive", right into a very strong solo by Mike, crowd goes fucking nuts. I think this one is hands down the best of the 2003 tour. When I feel like listening to a live version of Alive this is the one I dial up most of the time and it sitll gives me goosebumps.

Grand Rapids 5-19-2006: Awesome. I liked Eddie's speech during the solo, "Let me tell you ain't easy. No!" Long version too. Like 8 minutes. Great crowd participation.

Lisbon 5-23-2000: Fantastic extended version that seems to go one forever with lots of ad-libbing by Eddie and Mike at the end. "I'm still alive. I don't know why" etc. Great interplay between Stone and Mike during the last few minutes. Dennis Rodman makes one of his rare appearances. This was the first bootleg I bought and this was the version that lead me to get about 250 more.

Dallas 6-9-2003: Because I was there and they opened the show with it for only the 2nd time ever at that time.

I'm not sure why exactly, but I think the version they played at Reading '06 was extremely awesome!

  • I'm gonna say Lolla 07.

Alive is my favorite song to hear live. It doesn't matter if you're hardcore or if you're a casual fan, you know the words and everyone in the venue sings along. It's amazing every single time.

    Soldier Field 95’ stands out
I also will always love the 91’ RCKNDY off the Alive single. Would love to have all of that show some day.

Alive is is my favorite PJ song.  Yes I’m one of those old dorks.  But this performance of alive had me at 13 or 14 still does. At 38. Love it.

Oceans single. Had 3 Pinkpop tracks on it. Buying that single, hearing those songs..my guess that was a pretty seminal moment for a lot of us old dorks.

Alive and Sweet Child O'Mine are my favourite riffs of all time. Seen the lads nine times and they've played it at each gig. Guess the first time I saw it live so Wellington 1998. Mind you the RRHOF version was so special with Dave K, with the tempo slowed down and the fills from the record. Ears had an orgasm hearing that.

Philly 2016 the Ten Show.  Was the moment everyone fully realized it was happening.  Most electric moment of a PJ show i've seen in 28 shows.
