last exit, alpine valley 6/26/98. they just stopped the song in the middle and didnt start it back up. "fuck that song."

theres also a rvm, i wanna say from one of the the seattle fan club shows in 1995, where they start playing the beginning but it is way too fast so they start over.

and then theres the unfortunate halt to ship song at red rocks 1995. i would love to hear a full pearl jam version.

Mine was All Those Yesterdays, 98 Minneapolis. Stone's guitar cut out and as the techs were attending to the problem, Ed took a sip of tea and said something like "take your time" and then the crowd started cheering and it got louder and louder and it came to a point that EVERYONE was screaming and Ed laughed and said, "We should fuck up more often!" - then we all went wild! One of my favorite songs and I saw it live and this made it even more memorable (when they finally got their shit together and played it)

You have to remember "Betterman" from the same show then. Remember Ed starting it on the second verse? He stopped while the crowd kept on singing then he said "That's great but that's the second verse. Gotcha! I got myself." Then they started it again and got it right.

  • Ones that I have seen live,

Vancouver 03, Hail Hail Started they played about 15 seconds then had to start again.

Gorge 05, Off he goes and I wont back down,

    Vancouver 05 Love Boat Captian.

San Fran 2 Sometimes, was a little bummed as I really wanted to hear this again.

I am sure there are many more but those really stick out for me. I think that it adds someting a little speical when you listen to the biit and remember them.

  • Oh, another "fuck up" I remember.. I'm 95% sure it was Camden 2000, night two.. Anyway, during 'Soon Forget' Ed just stops playing, claiming he can't concentrate because someone is flashing him. I guess he composed himself, he started the song over and finished (he probably fucked up again, he always fucks up 'Soon Forget').

last yr at sydney1, he fuckd grievence up. He left out the
    "Progress,... taste it,... invest-it-all
Champagne breakfast for everyone" Then ed sung " I shared my grievence with the crowd"

During wasted reprie he then was syaing how he has never made a mistake in his life, and we saw his first ever mistake. something like that

the fuck up as they go to the bridge, but this is one of my favorite versions - mike's guitar effects sound awesome, and eddie sings the last chorus in a higher register i've never heard in any other version

I like that version as well.
My first PJ show to witness was at Bonnaroo. How is that for lucky?

    I LOVE the fuck-ups :D
that's why I love hearing Soon Forget live, Ed ALWAYS fucks it up (think he didn't once and I was disappointed :p)

going to have to trace all those (well, the actual FUs..changing lyrics, esp Even Flow, Lukin, DTE..that's normal.)

someone should make a compilation :D

oh, and I'm not sure which show it was last year, maybe Bern or Vienna (one I wasn't at anyway), there was a FU with Stone starting to play a different song (well, the same song again)

I remember this version specifically. They opened the encore with it, which was an odd placement for the song at that given time (Usually NAIS was in the first 8 songs or so on that tour). It was like Ed was trying to sing with more emphasis to make up for the fuck up. The way this version is sung at the end makes it my favorite version of this tune

  • once when they played Soon Forget, i think it was boston (mansfield) 00, ed is playing and has to stop and says something ot the effect of "OK we're ever, you're all clapping out of time, and I am playing out of tune" and he starts over. good times...

heh - I was there for that one. It was great.

Kitchener 05 - Soon Forget. I forget what he sung instead, or did he fuck something else up and sing Soon Forget. I was at the show, and probably have the boot, but can't remember offhand. It was pretty spectacular though - he gave up on one song and did another on ukelele.

Screwed up Soon Forget...and played Can't Keep
"No need to be void,...or save up on life...You got to spend it all....."
  • LBC from Vancouver 05 is pretty bad...I think Ed forgot the entire 2nd verse.

I can't recall how many countless times Ed changes the lyrics to Do the Evol. Can't blame the guy when you're drinking bottles of wine every night!!!

Yeah I noticed that too. Like on their last show for VFC in FL. btw-Death Cab for Cutie on ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD sucked or maybe it was someone from the crew.
