Ive heard a lot.. but Betterman in Gorge 05 he screws up the guitar part. And then hes like "Tom Petty would never do that! hes a professional" or something like that. Im sure youve all heard it0

Parachutes, Boston 06. Ed completely forgot the lyrics at one point.
I guess I'm not in the same boat as most of you -- I hate when songs get fucked up, especially when Ed forgets the lyrics. It totally ruins the song for me (although I do see the humor of it on some occasions).Everything has chains...Absolutely nothing's changed. - PJ

and then theres the unfortunate halt to ship song at red rocks 1995. i would love to hear a full pearl jam version.
this is the song that made me start collecting tapes, way back. i'd heard they'd played it, and it was my best friends favourite song so i tried to get a copy of it for her, you can imagine how gutted i was when i finally heard it and it was only half the song! it stops and ed says something like 'it sounded great in the back' - maybe they should have practiced it more than once.
my favourite fuck-up is the alive one that started this thread - something about too much hash the night before? - and the permanent fuck-up is 'throw your arms...' , i've heard ed sing this wrong so many times i've forgotten what the real lyrics are.0 -
2.21.98 Maui, at the end of Dissident when Ed sings the "couldn't hold on" part, he took it to another level entirely, singing "couldn't hold on" five times before going into "escape is never..." and so on.
I don't know if this is a fuckup or just Ed deciding to do something different, but either way it's unbelievably awesome. Totally kills me every time.
And on a side note, this show is incredible, for those that haven't heard it.0 -
Mankind, at State College - they start it up, everyone's playing, and somehow Stone misses when he's supposed to start singing, and it just kind of grinds to a halt, and they kind of blink, and then re-start.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

I think this one is a close 2nd to Penn State because they just stop playing the song and move on to the next one."Had my eyes peeled both wide open, and I got a glimpse...of my innocense, got back my inner sence, baby got it...still got it"0 -
In the 8/29/00 Boston boot, Stone screws up Sleight of Hand or as Eddie calls it, "like a third foul". Then later in the show right before Mankind, Stone says that the audience is punished for his screw up!! Love it!!!10/5/04 St. Louis

no idea which show it was, but i definitely remember one time when they played hail, hail and stone was in a completely different key, so they stopped and started over again. but like i said, i have no idea which show it was... for some reason, i'm thinking europe in 2000... ahhh, whatever.
so i made a playlist of all the screw-ups in my itunes and i've been letting it play all night... probably one of the funniest things i've heard in a while. if this was all one show, they'd be completely inept, which is how it sounds when you play them all together.Mesa 11/7/93 - Charlotte 10/4/96 - DC 6/14/98 - Raleigh 8/31/98 - Knoxville 9/6/98 - Columbia MD 9/18/98 - DC 9/19/98 - Columbia MD 9/4/00 - Phoenix 10/21/00 - Raleigh 4/15/03 - Phoenix 6/7/03 - Philadelphia 5/27&28/06 - DC 5/30/06 - Las Vegas 7/6/06 - San Diego 7/7/06 - LA 7/9&10/06 - Gorge 7/22&23/06 - Chicago 8/5/07 - PJ20 9/3&4/11 - Jacksonville 11/24/12 (EV) - Orlando 11/27/12 (EV) - Brooklyn 10/18&19/13 - Charlotte 10/30/13 - Memphis 10/14/14 - Ft Lauderdale 4/8/16 - Miami 4/9/16 - Jacksonville 4/13/16 - Hampton 4/18/16 - Chicago 8/20&22/160 -
Wishlist from Brisbane 1, 2003.
He messes up all through the song, swears at himself a few times, forgets the words completely and lets the crowd sing him back into it. It was pretty funny to see.-Chris

I was listening to Saskatoon Canada 05 and they tried to play the Guess Who's Running back to Saskatoon during the encore was a great attempt. Ed say smoething like, whe were taking our time cos were were trying to lern a song, after you hear it you may wish we took a few seconds more. Then after it fell apart he told the crowd that if there are any bands that want to go to Seattle and get on strage and just fuck around, they could as they owed them for that attempt. I tough that was classic.Arms wide open with the sea as my floor.0

The biggest screwup was when Eddie was on the same stage as Sammy Hagar.3-29-94-FL/9-24-96-MD/9-18-98-MD/9-05-00-PA/4-26-03-PA/5-03-03-PA/7-12-03-PA/10-1-04-PA/9-19-05-ON/9-28-05-PA/5-09-06-ON/5-10-06-ON/6-23-06-PA/6-19-08-NJ/10-28-09-PA/5-20-10-NY/5-21-10-NY/9-11-11-ON/9-12-11-ON/9-2-12-PA/9-22-12-GA/10-11-13-PA/10-18-13-NY/10-19-13-NY/10-16-14-MI/9-26-15-NY/4-9-16-FL/4-11-16-FL/8-8-18-WA/8-10-18-WA0

I'm not sure if it's posted yet, but Kitchener where Eddie tries to play Soon Forget. ABSOLUTELY fucks it up. Someone else also mentioned Off He Goes from the Gorge 05, that was pretty awful. Nothing beats Satan's Bed '03 or Sometimes '06 though.

Cincy '06 was fuckin great...they made up for the cancelled Cincy concert in Columbus when they played the improv OHIO tune and Footsteps...get over it...tired of hearing Cincy sucks from you.I'm trying to drink away the part of the day I cannot sleep away...0 -
London '07.
Ed congratulates himself for writing the lyrics on Indifference (he smiles, stands there proudly, even pats himself on the back and says: "I wrote some shitty lyrics in the past, but that doesn't include this one") and then forgets them.

einatshaul wrote:Vic people, who was it that messed it up first? Was it Stone or Mike?
If I remember correctly it was Mike.
Also, I cant believe no one has yet mentioned All Those Yesterdays from MSG in '98. Stone fucked up the solo at the end so horribly, that Ed even commented on it. He said something like "we come to madison square garden, and fuck up a song like that.....John Lennon would have been proud!"0
