imagine if this band actually advertisted these shows to some extent. i would say not that bad considering they haven't played these places in seven years. and the last time they toured they were promoting "riot act" which was a really terrible album. really shocked that st louis will be the lowest attended show this tour. post the other cities when you find them. thanks! very cool info

i also think it's funny that the last two shows are considered "sell outs" lol

riot act is really bad. and it's pretty bad live. i don't know too many people who scream to hear "ghost", "help help", "cropduster", or "get right" live.

What does that last sentence mean? You don't think MSG sold out???

  • I think he meant that it was weird that crowds of 10k and 11k are considered "sellouts"... nothing to do with msg

RA songs are great live. The crowd gets into RA songs as much as any of the lesser known songs, stuff like In My Tree or Rats.

Save You is great in the first cluster of rockin

1/2 Full may be the most explosive tune they play.

Not sayin the whole album is great, but just about every tune from the album sounds better live, and I don't really think that about most PJ tunes like alot around here.

I've never been a fan at all of Help Help... but hearing it on some bootlegs it sounds awesome... like 100x better live. Too bad I'll never hear it since I dont think they've played it in years!

Although Get Right I think sounds way better studio - everything else is pretty solid live though.

do those numbers include 10c tickets. seem like there was more than 12K people in columbus.

edit, maybe it is right. nationwide areana website says for concerts it can hold up to 20K people and with 25%(?) closed off behind the stage and quite a few empty's in the rafters, i guess it could be right.

can you please list the other shows?
  • mcgruff10mcgruff10 New Jersey Posts: 28,763
yeah i was just saying that the two original shows are listed as sell outs. i was at both msg's, they were defintely sold out!

and i'm as big a fan as anyone here (44 shows), you can't tell me that riot act sounds as good live as anything from no code or vs. i really feel riot act is their weakest album (check out the sales) and it was that tour that turned a lot of people off; i think the binaural tour started it a little. 98 was packed everywhere, 2000 you see a little slide and 03 a big slide in a lot of markets (texas as a whole, little rock, new orleans, b'ham). 2010 i think we see a little bit of a comeback in those tough market cities like in the midwest. i really feel they have to continue to tour places they haven't been to in a while like phoenix or minnesota or for christ's sake east troy to get some people back. backspacer live is probably the best live album since yield.

i personally love 1/2 full and save you at a show but besides that......

Backspacer and to some extent Into The Wild could be a real nice step forward.

A couple people from work just got aux jacks in their cars and I let them borrow some tunes. They both (non PJ fans) say that this week all they have been able to listen to is Backspacer and ITW.

a lot of non fans i know have said nice things about both albums. It seemed that Self-Titles was contained only in our universe and didnt really penetrate the outside world at all.

They only showed three shows in Billboard Magazine. Perhaps next weeks issue will have more.

I do agree that the Backspacer tracks are coming alive really well. I was surprised by Supersonic live and Got Some just keeps getting better.

Help Help, LBC and Green Disease are three of the worst songs I have ever heard. Green Disease has gotten progressively worse since the band has seemingly gotten said disease.

I completely agree with you on HelpHelp and Green Disease.
These two songs alone destroy the album.
Still can't believe Pearl Jam released these shitty songs on an album.

I would love more riot act live. Your gonna tell me Love Boat Captain isn't a great live track? All or None, or Thumbing my Way, I miss all those songs, bring them back, seriously. Backspacer is a good album too, but not great, the only song i look forward to hearing live off that album is Unthough Known. Easily the best arena rock song the guys have put out since given to fly in my opinion. And if you disagree, you should have been at the garden.

Replace Green Disease, Ghost, and Cropduster with Down, Undone, and Otherside and Riot Act would great a stupendous record!

I totally forgot about the existence of riot act as a studio album until I was listening to the cleavland show on PJ radio and was following along the play list. In my book, Backspacer is definitely the best album since No Code!
Still can't believe I met Mike Mccready at the Guggenheim and got a pic with him!!!!!
