dear guy who fell on top of me + almost took me down with him,
and/or guy who had to practically get carried out by four security guards,

maybe one of you can explain to me why you keep wasting money going to pj shows that you'll spend in the bathroom and won't even remember in the morning? why waste even more money on countless overpriced beers at the venue, when you're just going to wind up spilling them all over or puking them up on your fellow concert goers?

why not do us all a favor and just get wasted in your own home singing off key, falling down, and passing out in the comfort of your own home? save yourself a couple of bucks and save everyone else from having your drunken bullshit ruin their otherwise amazing concert experience.

hey pj, maybe we can reserve a few sections at each show exclusively for the increasing number of drunken meatheads at the live shows? just put them behind the stage, they won't even notice!

Having won many lampshade awards in my long life I have to say I understand where you are coming from but also understand the transgressions of the inebriated concert goers. It is not their plan to overindulge and will in hindsight probably regret it and perhaps they will learn for next time or eventually to pace themselves. Most of these people start way to early, partying at 1 2 3 in the afternoon and not finding any dinner. Then they go to the concert and PJ comes on at 9pm when the drunks should on their way home calling it a night, crawling to the sofa or passing out in bed. They will learn but will also be replaced by more who haven't learned yet.
So this will always be apart of the concerts. We can just be glad that it is not us who will be sorry, feeling like crap the next day, without the awesome memories we all look forward to.

Newsflash!!!!!! drunk people at a concert are not a new thing. Why do people keep going to PJ concerts and expect to not find drunk people? On a good night the singer is getting drunk on stage, probably on some over priced wine. Should he stay home and sing in key?

    ha!
as long as i'm not spending the entire show worrying that your going to vomit in my hair, that's fine by me!

i never said it was a new thing. in my experience, it just seems to be getting worse over the years.

also in my experiences, eddie doesn't typically throw up on himself and pass out on stage. if he did, then yes, he should stay home too.

that's true. it's slightly comforting to know all the drunks from last night are still probably sleeping in their respective vomit puddles, while i'm already getting excited for tonight's show!

I totally agree with the OP. I mean have a few, enjoy yourself, but seriously keep it in check. I got in a huge argument, I was standing on my chair screaming at the guy behind me pissing all over me and my boyfriend. Not once, but twice! His slightly less drunk friend tried to defend him. I mean seriously, it was right after the 1st encore and he starts pissing. Pulls it out and proceeds to urinate all over the place! If you're that drunk, do us all a favor and go home or at least to the restroom. You're not enjoying yourself, as exhibited by the totally nauseous look on your face and you sitting down with your head in your lap, and we're definitely not enjoying you.

    Can I get an "AMEN"?

I can say that, for the most part, Pearl Jam fans are amazing. However, I have a handful of awful experiences too. Like Buffalo '03. Easily the best show (content-wise) I've been at, but after the show a group of 8 drunk frat-asses were pissing on my car in the parking lot across from HSBC. I live in Toronto, and they were bitching that Canada didn't join the war, if you can imagine that! I mean, what fucking band were YOU seeing? It was just my sister and me, so there was little that I was going to do in the face of 8 frat boys.

Also, we all love to cheer/yell/clap/sing/ect, but people try to keep those elbows in when clapping and stuff. I don't need an elbow in my grill because Mike went off on E-Flow. I mean, is it too much to try to be mindful of the people around you?

What's funny is that these people who piss off us good folks (I'm biased) at shows by getting way too blitzed are likely the same people we'd stop and talk to any other place if we saw them wearing a PJ shirt. If I was at a bar, and somebody was wearing a Green D tee, I'd stop 'em and say something like "They're killer! D'you see them the last time they came thru? You hear the new record? ect. We'd likely get blitzed raving about songs, and laughing about EV falling off the amps or the "Let Stone Dance" campaign.

Suffice to say, lets all just try to be mindful of everybody around you. Up and down is cool - left to right isn't. Keep those elbows in front of your shoulders, not out to each side. And if you're going to get so ripped that you're going to ruin a show for everybody around you, I'll call over the security. I'll let a lot of shit go, and I'll tell ya so to give you a chance to clean your act up, but I look forward to these shows too much. And there are a lot of people who would love to have the seats you're in.

It's true. I was there. Sec 36. Asshole peed on the fucking seats in front of him. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I saw a stream of piss in front of me. It's indescribable.

To the best of my knowledge, the people it happened to screamed at the asshole until he left. Not sure where the hell he went (hopefully a FUCKING BATHROOM) but I don't think security got involved.

As a side note - they should really put some port-o-johns in the parking lots outside of the HSBC.....

People pissing freely as far as the eye could see.......men, womem, kids, dogs, apes.........it was ridiculous

hey pj, maybe we can reserve a few sections at each show exclusively for the increasing number of drunken meatheads at the live shows? just put them behind the stage, they won't even notice!

    awesome idea!

I'll admit it......Im usually pretty bombed come show time. I know how to handle alcohol though, and I certainly don't act like a dick to the people around me......the worst thing I will do is sneak out for a beer/piss break once or twice a show.

i got trashed from 3pm-8pm. whole rest of the night i was drinking gatorade or nothing at all. i don't know why people would spend 8-10 bucks on a beer at msg. it's highway robbery.

that's gross and really makes you wonder bout people. sad thing is the guy probably doesn't even remember that he pissed on a few people at a concert or the concert itself.

Did you say anything to an usher? The usher in my section thankfully was very good about keeping people w/o tickets out, would love to see more of that. I'm sure they'd be happy to escort out your pisser of a friend too.
