will leonard cohen's hallelujah be the most covered song of all time? ... everyone's heard the buckley cover but crikey ... lately i've seen so many covers of this song ... seeing an article saying someone on american idol did it prompted a search and i see that some band called the canadian tenors (who i have never heard of despite living here) did it too ...

i think this is one of the greatest songs written ...

anyhoo ... this to me is the best cover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE

That is indeed an amazing song, I would like to hear Eddie do it myself. Well, that was what I was thinking last evening watching Lee do it on AI.

Hardly surprising as the UKs winner of the XFactor also sang it. I think both programmes are to do with Simon dickhead Cowell. Good version by KD.

Sorry about the horrific over the top cheesy video. I think it was made in the US.

I doubt it'll ever top some of the Beatles.

Let It Be comes to mind immediately

Isn't Yesterday to most covered song of all time?

This song has been on my mind since February and the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. k.d.'s version there was truly breathtaking, 60 000 people silent in hushed awe . . . even the announcers seemed stunned at the end.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-bj4Tcc ... re=related

Btw, you can download a package of three versions of k.d.'s cover of Hallelujah on iTunes. Well worth it :D

Pump Up The Volume is an awesome film, and that was the first time I heard Cohen too, I love that song.

As for Hallelujah covers, I think my favourite will always be Jeff Buckley's because that's the one I heard first. Myles kennedy does a great version too, very similar voice to Jeff's:

Buckley's version is incredible... that's why it stunned/confused me to read that Cohen himself said Bon Jovi's version is the best. Someone needs to ship a copy of Mystery White Boy to Cohen, stat!
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
