This song has been on my mind since February and the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. k.d.'s version there was truly breathtaking, 60 000 people silent in hushed awe . . . even the announcers seemed stunned at the end.

Btw, you can download a package of three versions of k.d.'s cover of Hallelujah on iTunes. Well worth it :D

    Emphatic + 1.
I've never been big on k.d.,
but she broke hearts + healed spirits
    with that song.
Thanx so much for the tip about the iTunes connection.
My gf will be all over that!
    Cheers.
'Cause you don't give blood and take it back again.

Buckley's version is incredible... that's why it stunned/confused me to read that Cohen himself said Bon Jovi's version is the best. Someone needs to ship a copy of Mystery White Boy to Cohen, stat!

WHAT!? no way. the man was clearly tripping when he said that.
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand

Hmm, really? When did Cohen say that? Maybe he was joking :? :D:lol::lol::lol:
In 2008, Anjani Thomas, girlfriend of Leonard Cohen stated:

Why not revisit ‘Hallelujah’ you might ask? At this she laughs. “After hearing k.d. lang perform that song at the Canadian Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2006 [where Cohen was being inducted] we looked at each other and said, ‘well, I think we can lay that song to rest now! It’s really been done to its ultimate blissful state of perfection’. I don’t think I could even try it, because it’s been so magnificently done. Really, I think all the versions out there are such a testament to his songwriting talents, wherever that gift comes from.”

Yeah, I've never been big on her either, though I've always admired her voice. You're welcome about the iTunes tip, I'm sure she'll love it :D
