    I LOVE the Indy poster.
But that's just probably the science geek in me. :)

I'm no poster snob (not implying that any of you are :)) but for me, this is the best thing about these posters - they appeal to different people for different reasons.

Even though I'm not a baseball fan, I have to admit the nod with the St. Louis poster is great. I was kind of hoping for something a bit more on the funky side, but it's very specific to the show, which I think makes it cool. I also got the shirt at the show with the cardinal on it, I loved how it was a picture of a real bird and not animated. They did an awesome job making the merchandise special for us!

I agree. The STL poster is best for being most specific and city-themed. Which I think is a pretty cool feature in a tour poster.

For visual "groovy" factor, I really like New Orleans and Cleveland

Cleveland is totaly city specific and realted to Pearl Jam

    GUY:
The basis was that Cleveland is nicknamed "The Forest City" and also that PJ is planting trees to offset their carbon emissions on tour, so the Forest CIty Earth Mother is replanting tree seeds (with her helpers). Yeah. It all came together. And though I did not print them myself (all but the Klausens and maybe the Ameses were printed some where central) the prints turned out lovely.

Not liking the Buffalo poster colors @ all. It's hideous! You got the same dark blue, light blue, gray colors for the suit, head, coins & background. What's up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ooze effect light green? Tracing around coins, body, head & coloring over the majority of the letters.

Same as EMEK's print. Same colors for various items on the poster. Were each artist given only a few certain colors to use when they get them to the print house or something? Cause both these 2 prints could of had some amazing color affect/shades. Great work on the drawing, detail & presentation, but the color's used .... :silent:

I just want to say, I'm so god damn impressed that PJ are using all of these great artists for this tour! I love the variety and it really makes every show feel like it's own unique event. It just feels like a more organic, classic, indie feel, at least with the posters. The guys are in great spirits this tour I can tell, and it really comes across in the shows and in the moments they're creating.

    Ok, mushy stuff aside,

    As of (5/11):
    1. KANSAS CITY- Emek

Just a cash cow for AMES now? Jumped the shark?

Looking at ALL the others, Klausen, EMEK and Burwell, Mark5 -- you see thought, an idea, a theme, you see for the most part artwork that took DAYS to execute, stuff that looks like freakin' ART.

They shoulda only gotten one poster, cause the Noblesville one was totally phoned in, "Oh hey, we'll riff off the backspacer artwork." THIS IS AMES?!?!?! They couldn't do a freaky Indy Car?!?!? It's not even positioned on the paper well... lol.

It's art, totally subjective, like it if you wanna -- just saying, the "craft" of Noblesville is just lost on me. Thought, idea, theme, relevance, execution, wow-factor....

There are some just phenomenally gorgeous posters on this tour -- I can't believe I get the Ames suck for the one show I saw. The nightmare that is SF2 and SF3 2006 continues -- but hell, even those had an iota of thought behind 'em, relevance to the current climate!

Noblesville just shows, Give 'em one poster a tour and keep 'em hungry for more.

You guys are high if you don't think Klausen's is tits.

    N.O.
    K.C.
    Cleveland
  • Cleveland is the best poster! Burwell is the best artist doing posters right now.

Emek is cool but think the KC poster is very overrated. It is a very boring poster. Everybody bows down to Klausen and thinks he is so awesome, why? Because he uses black? The NO poster is so basic.

Everybody complains that AMES is too cartoonish but that is what they have been doing for years. And I dont see people complaining about their 1998 posters, which were also cartoonish but everybody loves.

The Columbus poster is pretty amazing in person.

St. Louis poster is great, at least it shows relation to the city.

    Indy poster is poop. Garbage.

    Buffalo is even worse.

Sorry man, you have everything wrong here:

First - Burwell best artist right now...why, because he did first PJ poster and everybody is excited now. It's a nice poster and it's really cool to have a new artist but with few nice posters to be a best artist right now is a long road specially when you have competition like Emek and Klausen...
And to criticize Klausen...that is way overline my friend... this man from the first poster he did Showbox to New Orleans he missed maybe 3-4 posters, he has the averare of great posters like nobody else.
And now Ames: you really don't want to compare last 2 posters with old Ames stuff...that is just crazy.
There is good cartoonish poster and ugly ones and we all know which ones are ugly.

I know everything is subjective in art but.......

    serious question:

is there any reason or relevance, at all, for the covered wagons, dinosaurs and smurfs on the Columbus poster? I grew up there and don't remember learning about any of those in history class. :wtf:

P.S. I actually don't mind the poster EXCEPT FOR the puny 5-6-10

1.Cleveland (amazing detail work, and something different than usual)
2.St Louis (not a Cards fan, but I really like on the "trademark" of the bat it says "Pearl Jam official since 1990"). You prob can't see that unless you have the poster, but that's awesome IMO.
3.KC (again, EMEK does so much detail work)
    4.Buffalo
5.NO (looks too much like a lot of other BK stuff, still nice, though)
    6.Columbus (again, better in person)
    7.Indy

One thing just about all of us agree on: Indy/Columbus at the bottom
As others have mentioned, it's all subjective. I personally like posters where you can see the name of the opening act, and the date and location clearly, so that certainly affects my rankings
