survivor series
anyone think that if this was replayed this year we might get totally different results, just looking for thoughts, I'm not so sure as the final rounds were dripping with quality....
or is this a hint for them to start up again, to see what wins the 2008 award??

There were so many close votes along the way that I think it's almost guaranteed that the results would be at least somewhat different if done again.
But I have no interest in doing so.
I am, however, thinking of doing a sort of PJ-song "Royal Rumble"; that's where I would put all the songs (from all albums and b-sides) together in a single round and then we would vote to pick them off one by one. I think that would give the most accurate reflection of our "rankings" of PJ's catalog, since the voting wouldn't be album specific.
What do you all think of that?Everything has chains...Absolutely nothing's changed. - PJ

Walkunafraid, if you actually do that you win the award for most awesome person in the universe ever! It must be so time consuming to tally up all the votes an so forth. You rock!I'll Ride The Wave Where It Takes Me0

if we were gonna do it again, we should use the bar chart toll thingies, so we could see whats winning...
dunno about you lot but during the survivor i would never look through all 15 or somethin pages to see what was winning0 -
I like it without the poll, because then I can check back to see what won, rather than see what's winning now and have that sway my vote.
walkunafraid, I know you did an "Other Songs" survivor, and I think the Royal Rumble sounds great too. But I wanted to suggest a "Christmas Singles" survivor round. I know, it's after the season, and some of the songs have already been done in the Other Songs survivor. But it would be a fun extra round, and now we could include "Santa God."
Just a thought.0 -

I don't think it would be different really. I mean, the top 3, if you still go by albums, were Black, RVM, and Corduroy. Regarded by many (not me) as probably the best PJ songs from their respective album. The overall winner may change but the top 3 would probably be the same.
The "royal rumble" idea is awesome though! You put so much work into those "battles" that you probably do deserve some sort of award, lol.
Hell though, if you're up for a battle royal, go for it, I doubt the results would be the same, plus you/we can have a good idea of overall rankings like you said
EDIT:Where's the Ultimate Warrior?Abraham Lincoln once said, "If you are a racist, I will attack you with the North."0 -
Hey walkunafraid,
how about another idea,
a cup tournament, whereby songs are thrown into a hat and drawn out to be pitted against each other, for voting purposes. The each round of voting loses half the catalogue, until we get the quarters, semis and finals, there would be a lot of threads for the serpate 'cup ties' each week, but the vote function could make this easier to keep up with???0 -
