A PJ show in Madison or Alpine Valley would draw fans from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and probably some from the Dakotas.

There's a reason why Lolla is in Chicago every year now...IT'S CENTRALLY LOCATED IN THE U.S. Madison and Alpine ain't too far from Chicago area (read: centrally located).

PJ, I hope you're listening. :) We midwesterners want some Wisconsin love!!!

The right people are not listening or reading this that's the sad truth.

After hearing Ed make his comment in Chicago 08 about Alpine. I really would like to know where the hold up is coming from.

  • i cant believe how much ticket prices went up. today i was cleaning my house a little, and found an old pj newsletter from the mail from ten club on the table, i looked at it i went to a bunch of shows , it was the riot act 2003 tour dates. they listed prices for tickets most weer about $80 a pair for most all shows, state college, vegas, etc etc etc. that was a big ass US tour too, now the prices 7 years later are more than doubled, ya inflation but holy fuck i used to be able to go to 2 shows for the price of 1 now. that sucks, and i dont make more money really than i used to either

Madison could sell out. People from Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis would come. And yes, there is much drinking! That's why Eddie and the guys should definitely get their rocking asses here! Some of us are nice drunks. Not like the guy at Ed's solo show in Milwaukee. Please play Alpine for the outdoorsy-ness!

What exactly happened that night that was so bad? I was there and remember a few annoying and rude guys in the audience, but nothing as bad as what people are saying. Then again I was pretty drunk so maybe my memory just needs refreshing. I do remember Eddie got so wasted he fell out of his chair at one point :D Somebody help me out here.

Back to the original topic.... Yes I do think a Madison show would be great, seeing as how they've really never been here for real. They would have absolutely no trouble selling it out, especially considering Madison doesn't have many big shows. But there's really no excuse for not coming back to Alpine since '03. Eddie's been quoted saying it's one of their favorite venues, and with what he said in Chicago last year I just don't understand it. Alpine is such a great place to see a show.... an all day party event. If anyone knows how to tailgate... it's Wisconsin. I honestly think they could still play two shows there and fill 'em up, as you basically have everyone from Wisconsin and Chicago combined.
  • i went to the last alpine summer show it was great, if they play wisconsin again soo i hope it alpine in summer again or kohl in madison, cause downtown milwaukee is a dump

technically anywhere could sell out ... we can play guessing games all day

my point is... in this economy and you can't guarantee anything and boston is a prime example of that

i do think it has to do with it being a monday... as well as prices... but prices haven't affected NYC... or Philly last year

boston is always considered top 10... if not top 5... for PJ cities

and 1 show isn't even getting filled

I would go to a concert in Madison, but if it was anywhere in Wisconsin, my first choice would be Alpine. I don't see much of a draw to bring the band to Madison over Alpine. Madison if in the Kohl center is inside. Alpine outdoor and beautiful. Alpine is also much closer to Chicago and Milwaukee. They will choose Alpine way before Madison as long as it's in the summer.

I am also curious as to why Alpine "didn't work out for one way or another" as Ed said at the August night 1 show in Chicago.

Pearl Jam HAS played Madison before. I saw them in March of 1992 at the R&R Station (an old club on Park St. that is now a train over pass and a UW buiding.)

Pink Floyd and U2 have played Camp Randall before. I think Pearl Jam would do well there. They wouldn't sell it out, but they sure would fill the place up pretty well.

I don't know how much Nickelback tix cost (and you do realize that Nickelback is more "popular" sales-wise/radio play wise than PJ), but Kansas City appears to be pretty full. The only lower level seats that come up on TM are in the section farthest from the stage in the back, row 29. Let's think about this; you're not a huge Pearl jam fan, to the point where you wait until tickets have been on sale for a few weeks before you get around to buying them. The tickets that come up are essentially in the BACK of the arena, almost as far as you can be from seeing the band on stage. The tickets cost over $80 with service charges. Are you going to buy $80+ tickets to sit in the back of an arena to see a band who you didn't care enough to buy tickets for until NOW? Probably not.

Kansas City will be plenty full if not sold out. Touringfans has a lot of 10C members attending it. I was at the 03 tour opener in Denver. It wasn't sold out either, but it was pretty packed. No one will notice or care, and the band will make a profit and not look at the midwest as a total loss just because it didn't sell out the first day of sales like MSG etc....
