It was 41 on Sunday. I wrote it at like 12:30 in the morning when it was Sunday. I understand it does look a bit confusing. I had to look at it a bit after reading this.

40 days is a great chris robinson song. i can't stop thinking about the concert coming up. it's infected my brain. it also helps that i currently have a very responsibility-free dayjob, substitute teaching at adult ed, where i get paid to basically nurse hangovers, bullshit with kids, comb these boards, read magazines.

the self-titled album was the first where i didn't eventually memorize all the lyrics. which is weird, it's a great album, i got to see them play ed sullivan theater, etc. but i feared that, despite pearl jam always being my all-time-favorite band and one i would never tire of seeing live, that the spark was starting to fade. i worried that i was getting older and unwittingly starting to outgrow the band, or even worse, settling into some forlorn part of adulthood where the passions and joys of my youth could not be sustained.

backspacer changed all that. the album makes me giddy. it feels like a renewal of vows as an instant, unabashed and truly fortunate fan. and as i am 30 now, i grew up with pearl jam. all the angst and choas of their early albums suited my identity-formation at the time. and since then, the growth and wisdom and "putting away my early grave" paralleled my own maturation.

ha ha, i'm rambling. pearl jam is much more than my all-time-favorite-band. they are the binding of my life's book. in a very powerful, singular way.

backspacer kind of reminded me that i don't know who i would be without this band's music. in my life's arc, they would have the biggest part. i know a lot of ten club members would say exactly the same. it's something to be celebrated, nearly two decades of having something mean that much to you.

so, that is why i can't stop thinking about the hartford show. it will be a very very drunk declaration of my mind's marriage to a great band. i hope to get to talk to some of you. i guess posting retarded "dear diary" posts like this isn't going to make the days go by any faster. but i definitely just killed an hour.

    go sox!

Like most arenas that were not built for concerts it's pretty uneven... It really depends on where you're sitting and the band's equipment... For most fan club seats I would think it will be adequate. Now if you're up high on the sides of the upper bowl, that's another story...
