I think the bouncing has to do with two things:

    1) A song that naturally people po-go to (and not just light po-going)

    2) I think there's a resonant frequency in the venue when people jump at the exact same timing as DTE and Spiderwebs. Just like the Tacoma Bridge that broke apart from just wind, because the wind was at it's resonant frequency for wobbling.

    Here's kinda what I mean:

Plus, I was too slow, as this explains it quite correctly. :)

at the Green Day show there last summer, I was on the floor, in the back sections that are elevated on metal platforms. There where moments when I seriously thought that the platform was going to collapse.
  • Was at U2 in MSG during the Elevation tour......was actually behind the stage and it felt like the place was on the collapse (and we were on stone, not platforms) during "I Will Follow"....awesome but momentarily frightening moment!

I was on that platform in 2008 at the back of the floor. I felt just a little bounce, but was hard to tell if it was the platform. Anything movable (like a riser) is likely to bounce with just 10 people jumping.

That No Doubt show back in the 90's I was in my office backstage which is bunch of concrete rooms, and that was my first show in the venue. The whole venue does this, or at least the 5th floor, which is the stage level. We had a small tv on a milk crate, and that was rocking enough that I took it off to make sure it didn't crash.

The venue seriously bounces. ...though I do hope nothing bad ever happens from the bouncing. :?

quick little story...... BUT A GOOD ONE

two years ago i went the see billy joel at SHEA stadium (i know) .....got a little heat stroke from working the day of..so mid way through the show i had to leave ... left my girlfriend and her family there i went out to the car to sit and drink water..... now if any of you guys EVER been to SHEA stadium you know the lay out ..so paint to picture for the others .. pictures the stadium in a giant parking lot ... easy and the fences are a good 1/4 mile aways from the stadium ... we parked up against the fences under a tree ....

I KID YOU NOT during one of the last few songs im standing next to the car and notice the ground shaking.KEEP IN MIND IM A GOOD 1/4 mile(1,500-2000 feet) away from the stadium.. i start looking around at the cab drivers and they all looked puzzled ..kinda freaked me out a little.. so then i take a cup of water and place it on the hood of the car .. and im just looking at the water go from one side of the cup (side facing the stadium) to the other as if your on a boat rocking back and forth .... once the song stopped the ground stopped shaking ... FUCKED UP ... i was at the pearl jam 03 msg show ..been to 100's of concerts at MSG ... but this was the creepiest thing i ever witnessed

end of story ..... never will forget that

now you all can give me shit for going to a billy joel concert ....:lol::lol: 7 to be honest .. i drag my girlfriend to pearl jam ..she drags me to billy joel
have you seen the colors of my fathers eyes

the mighty Led Zeppelin were the first stage shakers at the Garden, back for The Song Remains The Same.

Also Springsteen rocks the place in the same fashion, at every MSG concert he puts on .

And when PJ plays, theres not a dam thing any of us can do to avoid it, its gonna happen, wheather we like it or not.

    enjoy !

The arena level at MSG isn't on the ground floor. It's on the fifth floor. So, as impressive as it is to make the arena floor shake -- and I felt it myself in 2008, and it WAS freaky -- it's a little easier than shaking a level that actually anchored to the earth.
