for a "soft opener" I would say Hard To Imagine (I know "soft" doesn't really apply) and I am kinda bias because they used that at Bonnaroo
another "soft opener" would be acoustic Oceans - just that song acoustic then back to full electric
for a "hard opener" I would love for Brain of J or Got Some
those first few lines to Got Some work so well and especially the way the whole band comes in at once right from the beginningMy Pearl Jam Fan Videos
Best on the web - check them out

Thin Air
Has Arc ever been used as an intro to the opener? I think it would go really well at the start of almost anything.Do you see the way that tree bends? Does it inspire?
I'll not lose my faith, it's an inside job today
St. Louis 5/4/10 Hope for many more!0 -

Wierd that you'd say that because Ed actually CLOSED with it at the solo show I went to in baltimore.0 -

I am a fan of the traditional Oceans, Long Road, etc, openers, but I would love to see them come out and open with a blistering performance of Deep.0

Can't Keep

I saw a show in Melbourne back in '03 where they opened up with Can't Keep (think it was the third show). 'Twas brilliant too. They should play it more.0 -

they (he) opened the iowa 03 show performing it. not on the boot though (none are). was there ever an answer as to whether it was left off all the boots for audio/soundboard reasons or due to the band's wishes? i've heard both0 -
From wikipedia: The track entitled "Arc" was recorded as a vocal tribute to the nine people who died at the festival. Vedder only performed this song nine times on Pearl Jam's 2003 tour, and the band left the track off all released bootlegs as an act of respect.Father Hubbard wrote:made us stars wrote:Thin Air

how about Untitled/ Mfc , i think that would be a good opener, or something like Rearviewmirror or Wishlist, or just hit you strait in the face with Lukin- into- Not for you.Glasgow cathouse-1992-2-23, San diego sports arena-1995-11-06 & 07, Glasgow secc-2000-06-03, Tampa st petes times forum-2003-04-13, London O2 arena-2009-08-18, Belfast odyssey arena-2010-06-23.Leeds 2014 - 07-080

I can't remember offhand which boot RVM started with but I think it was from Binaural tour and it worked really well. Wishlist was my reason for this thread and I love the Untitled/MFC idea instead of just MFC on it's own

Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.
Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/120 -
Breakerfall's got a great opening sequence that would work for a beginning of a show.
Of course I would love Brain of J for my middle one...
And Last Exit was terrific in SD last year...

RVM.
I got my hands on the 72nd bootleg from 2000 recently, and I put the first disc in while I was driving to work one day last week. RVM was the third or fourth song and it really surprised me to hear it so early on in the set. 8-)Manchester 04.06.00, Leeds 25.08.06, Wembley 18.06.07, Dusseldorf 21.06.07, Shepherds Bush 11.08.09, Manchester 17.08.09, Adelaide 17.11.09, Melbourne 20.11.09, Sydney 22.11.09, Brisbane 25.11.09, MSG1 20.05.10, MSG2 21.05.10, Dublin 22.06.10, Belfast 23.06.10, London 25.06.10, Long Beach 06.07.11 (EV), Los Angeles 08.07.11 (EV), Toronto 11.09.11, Toronto 12.09.11, Ottawa 14.09.11, Hamilton 14.09.11, Manchester 20.06.12, Manchester 21.06.12, Amsterdam 26.06.2012, Amsterdam 27.06.2012, Berlin 04.07.12, Berlin 05.07.12, Stockholm 07.07.12, Oslo 09.07.12, Copenhagen 10.07.12, Manchester 28.07.12 (EV), Brooklyn 18.10.13, Brooklyn 19.10.13, Philly 21.10.13, Philly 22.10.13, San Diego 21.11.13, LA 23.11.13, LA 24.11.13, Oakland 26.11.13, Portland 29.11.13, Spokane 30.11.13, Calgary 02.12.13, Vancouver 04.12.13, Seattle 06.12.13, Trieste 22.06.14, Vienna 25.06.14, Berlin 26.06.14, Stockholm 28.06.14, Leeds 08.07.14, Philly 28.04.16, Philly 28.04.16, MSG1 01.05.16, MSG2 02.05.160 -

Find the St. Petersburg boot from 1994. RVM opens. Seems like it opened a show in 2000 or 2003 as well.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
