The best wings in Buffalo — or anywhere

To wings fans visiting Buffalo, be sure to go to La Nova on West Ferry Street and order the barbecue or hot-barbecue wings, which are deep-fried, sauced, tossed into a fire pit, sauced and tossed back into said fire pit and then resauced. As many times as I try to replicate what La Nova does — and I buy gallon jugs of hot and hot-barbecue sauces from them online — I still cannot get my wings to fly like theirs.

I've been experimenting with gourmet-style wings with lots of marinades and seasonings, but the simplicity of La Nova's wins out. Crazy tasty.

It's about three to five miles away. Cabs fares aren't terrible in Buffalo. It'll be worth it. Trust me, an honest man.

Haven't been there but I think the Anchor Bar has the best.

I've been to the Anchor Bar. Pretty good but I wouldn't say they are the best I've had.

Never been but I also head Gabriel’s Gate makes good wings, and like Anchor Bar it's not too far from the venue.

I've had the anchor bars and I will say they are the best I have ever had.

No one who lives in Buffalo thinks Anchor Bar has the best. They either have all their own individual places.

    I personally like Duff's.
  • born and raised in Buffalo. Duffs has the best wings here for sure. Unfortunately, they're not close to the arena. Gabriel's Gate is much closer, located downtown, and has great wings too. Other great restaurants downtown are Founding Fathers pub, Cozumel for Mexican, Colter Bay, Pearl Street Grill and Brewery.

But for wings downtown, hit Gabriel's Gate. Anchor Bar, where wings were born, are very small.

    Enjoy my hometown.

Not true. Believe me. They are average to above average at best.

    Gabriel's Gate or Duff's

Anchor Bar's are OK, but its more geared toward tourists and visitors. Duff's and Gabriel's Gate ramp up their game because they go for the "home crowd".

Born and bread in Buffalo... It's Duff's and it isn't close. You won't be disappointed.

Duff's is far and away the best place for wings on this PLANET.

The other places in Buffalo have GOOD wings (better than most joints outside of the great city of Buffalo)
    -la nova
    -bob and johns
    -anchor bar is the original

Stop in Syracuse on the way and go to Dinosaur BBQ.

The Anchor Bar invented the Buffalo style chicken wing...so saying that they don't have the best "Buffalo Style Chicken Wings" is like saying that: "Pearl Jam doesn't play the best Pearl Jam style music".

    hahaha I love that.

    Duffs is the best, though.

Just because one invents something doesn't mean his or her invention can't be improved on. What you're saying is akin to saying the Model T is the best car — simply because it was invented — and that doesn't make sense.

i'm not going to buffalo, but if i wanted wings, i'd go to the place that invented buffalo wings...i forget the name though

It's called the Anchor Bar - Duffs is supposed to be great also.
    PEARL JAM - It's what's for breakfast

Was at Duff's on friday night...absolutely fabulous winds...i would highly recommend them even though they are a little out of teh way from HSBC arena

    located at Sheridan and Millersport.

Also highly recommended: Dino's Bocce Club Pizza @ 4174 North Bailey Avenue...the best pie in Buffalo, delivery and take out only.

    cheers

  • I am simply replying to this because I want it in my history so that when I get in Buffalo i can reference this and decide where to eat. I neeeeds me some Buffalo wings

If you are looking for a quick lunch or something, you must go to Mighty Taco.

If you are serious about getting the best wings, go to Duff's, or the previously mentioned Gabriel's Gate.

Roast Beef on Weck with Horseradish is also good and I believe it is served where a lot of us will be partying (Pearl Street Grill and Brewery)
  • davidtriosdavidtrios Posts: 9,732
I love Mighty Taco. Also, Go to Anderson's for the best Roast Beef Sandwich and Soft Serve ever.

One note about Buffalo Style Pizza. IT FREAKIN SUCKS. I'm sorry. I love Buffalo and all it has to offer but the pizza pie is sub-par. I'm not sure I feel this way because of my Chicago-bias but stick to the wings.

On another note, try the Buffalo Strip sub. You can usually order at any joint there. Pretty damn tasty.

my mouth is watering from this thread!! ;)

buffalo wings are my favorite food and this is my first time to buffalo

i was thinking anchor bar for obvious reasons but after being to philly a few times i've learned you listen to the locals

    so... my question is

are any of these places open AFTER the show?

i get into town around 11 and will be going somewhere for lunch of wings

then after that it's to the hotel... then to the preparty... then the show

so i only have lunch ... assuming the preparty is at some bar where i'll just be getting whatever

    where do i go??
