Both bands are SUPER good and very different. I just picked up a couple of Band of Horses albums, and I'm really liking them!
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...

  • The Black Keys are a bluesy duo with a really '70s crunchy guitar sound. As far as albums, I only have Rubber Factory but it's quite good. Don't know anything about Band of Horses, although that's who I'll be seeing this tour so any pointers are welcome.

I'm seeing Band of Horses and know very little about them.

You should check out anything by Black Keys. It's all awesome. Some of my favorite Black Keys songs are "Stack Shot Billy," "Your Touch," "So He Won't Break," "10 A.M. Automatic," and "Strange Times."

Band of Horses "Cease to Begin" is brilliant.. prefer it to "Everything All the Time" However. they are releasing a new album on May 18th "Infinite Arms" and I assume that will be the bulk of the setlist..
Think Jane's Addiction meets the Beach Boys and Gram Parsons at MMJ's house...

i'm stuck seeing band of horses...not a good live band at all. why can't pj get decent, less known opening acts like silversun pickups??? or better yet, why don't they always just open for themselves as in toronto last year :)
  • Both bands are fantastic. I'm thrilled with the openers this tour!

    Black Keys - Thickfreakness
    BoH - Cease to Begin

  • Band of Horses is probably the best opener (for more than one show) Pearl Jam has had in quite some time. Don't get me wrong, The Black Keys are great - but a lot of you guys are about to find out what the deal is...

"Funeral" is one of the 10 best songs from the last decade.

Exactly. Band of Horses are good but for my preference, the Black Keys are on a whole nother level. Been saying they would be such a great opener for PJ. Glad I'll be there to see it. They completely rock but they know how to slow it down too. Just a great great band. Plus, when's the last time you've heard a voice like Dan's, the lead singer/guitarist? It's ridiculous.

Pick up both BoH albums, you won't regret it. I first saw this band at Outside Lands and they were awesome. They played Atlanta on Dec 30 & 31 at a small venue and again put on a great show. IMO their cd's are really good but they sound even better live. General Specific is a great song.
