This was one of the WORST experiences ever on this site. I am wondering if there were less tickets available for MSG 2. I have been pretty good at this. With two computers up and 3 browsers open on each, aside from today, have ALWAYS been able to get tickets. Today 5/21 did not come up until 6:06 est. The buy button came up as usual. and then it timed out. and timed out again with the next buy button. The page had trouble loading. with 5/20 I was lucky it went through but the time to load each page was unusually long. I just got lucky that even after it timed out, when I pressed try again, it came back to that screen. I did not even know I got those tickets until I checked under orders. This website is in trouble. By adding all these fancy graphics, they created even more chaos than they had previously, and yes it is the responsibility of the 10c to fix this. Hire a tech person that can do the job. Your graphics need to be of a smaller size so the page will load. It is not fair to your fans, people take time off from work , cancel meetings, etc. hoping to get tickets. The band only comes around once a year and with a loving, loyal fan base they owe it to them .

Graphics are not the issue here. It is the number of requests per second dupral can handle that is the problem.

Maybe this caused the absolute clusterfuck that was the 10C pre-sale:

NEW PRE-SALE RULE!!!!!!! Once you have a pair of tickets in your shopping cart you must complete the check out process within 10 minutes of placing them in your shopping cart, otherwise you run the risk of those tickets being dumped back into stock and going to the next member in line.
"Hey, listen asshole, one more fucker throws a fuckin' quarter up here and we're outta here, I'm tellin' ya, FUCKER! What the fuck, you're blowin' it for fuckin' everybody. Hit me with a fuckin' quarter again and, fuck it, I'm outta here. We're all outta here. Fuck you, and if anyone sees someone throw fuckin' change right next to them, you have my permission to beat the fuckin' holy shit outta them."

Just saying guys, there are worse tragadies in the world today than a 10 club member not getting a ticket through a presale.

If the Tenclub membership would not include the ticket presale any more, 90% of the members would quit the club.

And as others said, you didn't get the point.
No one complaints about the limited number of tickets. That's a given.
The discussion is about the poor way of handling the presale.

I think the problem lies with the 10c server. Its not big enough to cope with demand. There should be a link to redirect to the main ticket seller, in this case Ticketmaster.com but this should only be accessible through a logged in 10c account. This is how most other artists do their presales with access blocked from the main ticket seller homepage. However some artists issue special passwords to members for presales but this system sucks as people sell the password onwards.

Kind of sad people are complaining about this when there's a whole section of the country who haven't even had the chance to buy tickets to a nearby show in over 6 years.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

That said... $20 per member... you're allowed presales, you get a record, and a couple magazines... it's worth it, I admit. But between the fees for the 10c, the album sales.. historically, the constant sold out shows, MERCHANDISE, you cannot tell me the band (and by the band i mean everyone involved) don't make a lot of profit. Therefore, why can't they invest in a larger server to accommodate the massive amount of internet traffic.

I always figured that the ten club could be run for free, and probably still make money for the band as a promotional division. I think the only reason they have the fee is so that every casual fan doesn’t sign up. I mean the way I see the 10 club is kind of like a loyalty program at the grocery store, or a frequent flyer plan. The airlines aren't giving away free flights because they like you and want you to like them. They are giving away free flights in exchange for having your personal information and knowing your spending habits since that kind of shit is worth money. By the same logic the 10 club knowing the location, personal information and contact info for their biggest fans is hugely valuable to them. I mean it makes it that much easier to plan concert tours if you know where large pockets of fans live, and how many of those $200 Ten reissue packages did they sell because they had the email addresses of a group of people who would probably buy a ton of them.

That said with all the problems and horror stories I have heard about ticket buying, and experienced first hand when buying posters in the past, makes me wonder what the $20 or $25 a year is being spent on, it doesn’t sound like it is being spent on servers.

The price of these tickets is just getting flat out ridiculous. It doesn't bother Eddie at all that even the band's younger fans are stuck pay almost 100 fucking dollars to see a show?! It's fucking outrageous. Which day of his life in the past ten years did he wake up and say fuck it, I don't care what the fans have to pay anymore? Almost makes going to a PJ show feel a bit tainted when you have to pay out the ass for it.

I've learned that there's always PJ tickets available well under face the week of the show, so I'm sticking to that route for the time being. After being put in the 400-section in Philly, the 10C can really kiss my ass... talk about putting the venue's ticket sales before the fans!

I guess it's a good thing I love PJ so fucking much, but I do have to wonder what has become of their ideals at this point...

It's obvious that you are one of the YOUNGER fans. You sound 12.
This might be a stretch.. but many lawyers and other professoinals get hundred of dollars an hour. The way I see it, if PJ is playing a 2 1/2 hour show, I am paying them $30/hr. That's five bucks per bandmate. Pretty damn cheap if you ask me.

Why would it be a difference to Eddie if the 'younger fans' have to pay more? I'm not that young, and I don't have too much money, but it doenst bother me at all...

Also, did it ever occur to you that if tickets were 40 buck like the old days, that they would sell out 2X faster and you might have less a chance of scoring good seats first?

Maybe if folks like you would've listened to the 10c advice about not using multiple computers, then the site may have worked better. What you did is partly to blame for the site issues, then you come here and complain when it didn't work properly? That takes some major cajones mi amigo.

    • DO NOT LOGIN USING MULTIPLE COMPUTERS!!!!! This creates a bottle neck of web traffic which can result in site failure and loss of ticket order. We can not stress this one enough.

  • I got tickets for both shows I wanted, but that isn't the point. The point is for the Ten Club to set up a system that works properly. How could the NYC show be soooooooo popular that it rendered the website useless for the first 30 minutes of sales, yet the show wasn't sold out for almost 4 hours? I wasted a ton of time today dealing with something that should be simple...you either get tickets or you don't. I refuse to believe that there isn't effective ways of queuing potential customers for internet sales.
It only took me 20 minutes to score for msg 1. having said that, the system does blow...

can i complain about this thread?
  • Jiggs wrote:
First off, if misspelling privilege with a "d" it in is the worst thing I do today, it will be a pretty good day. I must be insane.

I joined the 10 club because I'm fan of the band, not because I think it's my fucking entitlement to get tickets to a concert.

There's over 70,000 paid members in this club, and guess what, not every member is going to get a ticket through the presale for every concert they want. Deal with it or leave. If the only reason you paid the outrageous $20 a year was so you could get tickets to a concert maybe you should reconsider paying that amount of money to be part of the community.

Did Pearl Jam concerts exist before the internet was invented? Remember the days of getting to a Ticketmaster at 3AM to get in line to buy tickets? Remember, this isn't a ticket service, it's a fan club.

I'd pay $20 a year and smile just to say I'm in the fan club. I don't give a shit if I get tickets to a show, I don't give a shit if my tickets are upstairs, I don't give a shit if I get my Christmas Single on the 4th of July. I love the band, and that’s all I give a shit about.
The subject title of this thread is an outright joke. Presales are a "priviledge". L O L. A) Are you insane? B) it's "privilege"

While no one is guaranteed a ticket... one of the biggest selling points of joining the 10C is for special pre-public sales for tours. That most certainly is not a privilege.

Here is a re-print of the benefits of 10C membership, as presented on this website:

    MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
1.Our promise to do our darndest to get you the absolute BEST tickets in the house to Pearl Jam shows around the world.
2.Access to Ten Club members-only merchandise like limited edition silk-screened posters from Pearl Jam tours.
3.A holiday 45 RPM vinyl single with songs not found anywhere else.
4.Pearl Jam's full-color printed DEEP Magazine mailed to you
5.Full access to the Pearl Jam Online Community
    6.Members-only contests and giveaways

So you are right in one sense, there is no guarantee of tickets. On the other hand, they are specifically selling you on the premise of access to concert tickets; tickets that are the "best in the house". It's the No. 1 reason for god's sake. And when you pay the $20, and feel that they in turn didn't reciprocate w/ their "darndest" foot forward, for what you already paid for - you have a a RIGHT to be upset.

But to say presales are a privilege? haha. Are you really forking over the $20 for a once-a-year "magazine"? Don't be silly... 10C knows what they are ultimately selling, and its what almost every fan is ultimately buying.
You should post more. well said

is the way this works something new??? honestly??? this is the first tour that i have actually gotten lucky..and yes, it SUCKS big time to get shut out.. but thats life...of course a updated system would be more helpful... but lets take a look at the cities that had a problem? NYC, BOSTON, HART... of course they draw hits .. did any of the people who got shut out feel bad when pj plays thier city time after time??? its not like they wont be back to boston or ny in 10 years... so on 1 tour you might have to bite the bullet and pay more or try TM... i wish everyone could get tickets, but thats the system.. its not new... if you are that uphappy, leave... if you feel your not getting your 20$ worth, leave.. no one is forcing you to stay...

if you got shut out, i wish you the best luck with TM..
