I was lucky enough to get tickets and basically that's what it comes down to, luck. I understand exactly why people are mad. If they sell out within seconds and I dont get them, ya I will be upset but the quicker hands won. If I waste hours of my day and not get them because of server problems, I am going to be downright pissed for reasons that are more than justified. This has happened several times and the problem never gets any better even with the staggered times. Plenty of other sites can handle high demand, why can't they upgrade it? They know this will keep happening but nothing is being done. With the smaller tours, demand is going to be much higher and it will be more venues in the big cities where there is already high demand for tickets this problem should be fixed.
Very true.So..why join this fan club?????..I have seen the band on every tour since 1996..I guess EV wants me to give TICKETMASTER MY MONEY.YES..TICKETMASTER ED.

So I had to work, and emailed login info and instructions on how to buy for my wife, who never had been on pearljam.com before. She got tickets for me just fine to Columbus show.
THATS VERY NICE STORY.BUT..THERE WAS NO..demand FOR THAT GIG.ITS STILL AVAILABLE ON THERE.It is NOT SOLD OUT RIGHT ?? Boston and NYC sold out very fast.The..DEMAND for Boston and NYC was much more than..Ohio. Your wife would have been shut out as well.Maybe I should move to...East Troy ????...DMB play some of their best gigs there.And...yes..Im sure I would get seats at..DMB/Warehouse....as I always do... :)

  • Enough... first off, I'm a member of U2's (more expensive) fan club, too, and it ain't all daisies and gummy bears. Over time as a member, you get access to better seats, but I had just joined and my seats blew. Sure, I knew that they blew ahead of time, but they still sucked. And so it is with Pearl Jam's newer members, of whom I'm one, but we just don't know exactly where it will suck. EXCEPT, it actually might not suck... I might wind up in rows 1, 2, 9 or 10. That's pretty freakin' awesome. In Philly, I would have had awful seats from the fan club, but fate hooked me up and I traded up to 17th Row stage right. Wouldn't have worked out that way if not for having 10C tix waiting for me.

For the MSG shows, I'm probably assed out and sitting in the rafters. But that's OK... I know it going in. I'll probably still try for great seats on TicketMaster, and let friends use the shit Fan Club seats if I don't score in the lottery. I get it. I mean... come on, People. It's freakin' Pearl Jam in a major metropolitan area when you're talking NYC or Boston. When I looked earlier today, every show but Boston still had Fan Club seating available. The system works well for most... just not in the greatest city on earth, or that craphole Bahstahn, which, as always, sucks

All that said, it's a lot easier to feel that way when I triumphed. I get your pain. It also hurt knowing that I passed up a reasonably decent seat on TicketMaster for Halloween, and saw that I was looking to be in the rafters at the back of The Spectrum with my 10C seats. I was pissed, because I wasn't expecting that. Now I know. And so do you if you've read this, so butch up and get locked and loaded for when they hit the public sale.

Just wanted to vent my frustration. After many years of belonging to the club... just like so many others...
spent hours and hours trying to get tix and could not get any. So frustrating. There has to be a better way!

Pearl Jam talk a lot of shit about being a band for the people but they never address any of their fan club issues and that's super lame.

They send out plenty of e-mails when they have something to sell, but god forbid they acknowledge how their screwing over their fan-club members.
  • My experience in trying to get tickets for the NY show on 5/20 makes be very suspicious on this pre-sale club membership thing. I can see that there was a lot of web traffic due to demand. And I get that with digital music and the like, bands are increasingly looking towards their tour to make their dough. But curious as to how and why shortly after presale starts and before it was sold out, the stub hubs of the world post tickets starting at $200 each for nosebleed seats all the way to $900 for floor seats. (check it out at http://www.stubhub.com/pearl-jam-ticket ... 10-941887/) Is pre-sale really just for club members or open to a whole other list of takers and greed mongers (i.e. Ticketmaster, et al.)? First of all doesn't the fan club membership prohibit that and second, isn't ticket scalping illegal? This would make for a great attorney general investigation.

man you all did not take the advice " just breathe" ... i got boston 45 minutes after they went on sale ... yes it was frustrating and there were problems but i stuck with it and got tickets ... how in the hell are they supposed to satisfy everyone ... come on lighten up there is still a public sale and good tickets will be offered .. part of the fun is not knowing where your seats are until you pick them up ... i think this cuts out scalping of 10c tix and that is great . have fun everybody see you @ bristow , hartford , boston and beyond !!

In the past, I had an enlightening conversation with a ticket broker, and none of this stuff you mention has to do with anything nefarious being engaged in from the band or club. Brokers know that they can get nosebleed seats, and they have special software so they know that they'll score some decent floor seats. The software opens up something like 50 TicketMaster windows per computer, but makes it look like 50 different computers so they can get around TM's blocks to searching for multiple tickets at the same time. It automatically reads the words that need to be typed to start the process, and there's no way a human can compete when the sale opens. So, the brokers post stuff that they haven't secured yet, since experience shows that they will get good seats and StubHub let's sellers provide similar tix to what are listed if the exact ones listed aren't available, although the buyer can then refuse them.

As far as re-selling being illegal, that varies from state to state, and maybe even city to city, but almost all of the laws involve proximity to the venue. IOW, the law might be that one can't sell tickets within 300 yards of the venue, but there are few, if any, areas in which it's illegal to re-sell the tix on something like StubHub, e-Bay, etc. Now... for all the whining about not knowing where the 10C seats are until the day of the show, it's actually a wonderful thing that helps keep brokers away. Same with having to show up yourself to pick up the tix. Things like this help... I know that I never would have had a 4th row center (which I "upgraded" to front row center 8-) ) for AC/DC at Giants Stadium last year if not for a similar requirement that kept brokers at bay. Sure, some re-sellers still take their chances, and hopefully the band does yank memberships and void tix if they catch onto some shananigans, but that aspect of the fan club really helps the fans if you ask me.

In the interest of full disclosure, while I despise professional ticket brokers and how hard they make it for true fans to score good seats, I'm not beyond selling a ticket for a profit from time to time myself. Sometimes I find a much better ticket after I've already bought one, so I put the original purchase up for sale, and for a profit if I can. Or I do the same with a really good ticket, in general. A year and half ago, I scored a front row Santana ticket for a show in Colorado. Planned on going, but put it up for stupid money on StubHub just to see what would happen. It sold and I used the proceeds to buy a 7th row seat in Reno and a 10th row seat outside SanFran and paid for much of my airfare. Sorry, but I'm not gonna feel bad about doing that. I also will sometimes buy a really good ticket for performers who I don't really care about and hope to use it to fund other shows in my concert addiction. But it's no guarantee... I freakin' had to eat a $200 second row seat for Brittney last year and wound up going myself, so I consider myself punished for any sins :o;)

Anyone receive email confirms of tix purchase?

For both nyc shows the screen timed out after I submitted my cc info, but the PJ site has receipts of my orders and my bank account was charged. I assume I am golden, but not 100% certain.

And yes, that was torture....need a drink now. Still love the fan club though

    KVD

KVD51, no e-mails were received and I got the browser time-out message as well , but I also was able to confirm that the 5/21 show went through because it was in the "order history" (and then later I confmed the charge at my credit card company's website). I really freaked out at the time-out screen  . It took me about 8 minutes just to get to "step 3" and enter the card information.

Definitely a messed up process and the site could not handle the bandwith. I sympathize with the others who had difficulties :( and had to deal with the site hangups. I didn't know what was going on..

Apparently I do not read very well....the Ten Club posting about the ticket sales says, "Confirmations will not be sent until the pre-sale has ended. In the meantime you may view your order confirmation number in your online order history."

Pearl Jam announced today that they will play 11 Midwest and East Coast tour dates in May of 2010. The tour kicks-off on May 3rd at Sprint Center in Kansas City and wraps on May 21st at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Pearl Jam's U.S. tour follows the band's previously announced headlining appearance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation Festival on May 1st. Band of Horses will open all shows except the May 20th Madison Square Garden engagement, where The Black Keys will open.

I have been in DMB and U2s fanclubs forover 10 years. You are right about U2.com.But, Iam a senior member,I get to order tix first..and I always get great seats. My beef with U2 are the prices they charge.Top ticket is $250.ThatS a ripoff. But I get great seats on the floor all the time for $110.This 360 tour I went both nights at Giants Stadium,I had great seats 100 sections.DMB Warehouse print their tix,and tell you where you are sitting..BEFORE ..they go on sale to the general public.I also always get great seats from the Warehouse.Last summer I saw DMB 3 times, twice at Jones Beach. The tix for both nights were great, and that is a small venue.I have GA tix for DMB at Citi field and Hershey this summer.Again, great seats.Warehouse DOES NOT give you tix by how long you have been a fanclub memeber,as U2.COM.U2.COM send you straight to Ticketmaster.DMB do the tix themselves ,and with both fanclubs the system NEVER FREEEZES .I tried for 3 shows with the 10 club.wasted many hours yesterday.I GOT SHIT.I was going to drive from NYC to Boston.Thats out now. After 6 min...TEMP OUT OF STOCK....OVER AND OVER....How is that possible.I called the 10 club, they said they only sell a very small % to the fan club members.Thats weak.Im not bashing PJ.Just they way the 10 c sells the tix.At least I saw the band in Philly(10.28.09) from this tour.Got those seats from Live Nation........Peace. 8-)

The Announcement you've been waiting for has finally arrived!

Band of Horses will open all shows except the May 20th Madison Square Garden engagement, where The Black Keys will open.

is this an error on MSGs part?

this is what theyve got posted on their website:

Tickets are on sale Saturday, March 20 at 9AM.
With Special Guests The Black Keys (May 20) and Band of Horses (May 21)
Tix are on sale where ??..Ticketmaster or Live Nation??..Both sites say nothing about the MSG shows.

not onsale as of yet, but this can be found on the msg website:
