    Nice choice.

I thought of one last night -- "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Mansons. We can all admit that the chug of that riff is pretty damn heavy.

such a fucking great riff, i'd hate to say.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

Stockholm Syndrome was already mentioned under it's other name, "A Song for the Dead".

That is a massive Queens rip-off riff. Pretty kick ass though

    Indeed - a cool thread

My vote is for the opening riff in Crazy Train.
Pretty heavy for the year it was written.

  • Not exactly the kind of heavy we're looking for here but...
Lookout Mountain by Driveby Truckers is some pretty heavy shit in my book

Dude! I saw them at Bonnaroo in 2008 and then again with Booker T. last year and they played it both times. It is a bad ass song. I still can't help losing it when that damn guitar kicks off at the beginning

I'm surprised something off "Bleach" hasn't been mentioned. Lot of heavy riffs there.

currently, i would say the 1st track off them crooked vultures where its toward the end of the song and than all of a sudden it hits you hard. the other track that hits so friggin hard at the end is At the Drive In's "invalid litter dept." its similar to TCV's riff but they are just so hard hitting. love it.
