at a little less than 4 minutes in, Eraser, NIN. One of the heaviest. Listen to that bone crunching.

Yup gets my vote. That guitar tone is one of a kind and gets me every time. AIC's It Aint Like That also gets an honourable mention.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Depends what you clasify has 'heavy'.

A lot of you have suggested bass-fuelled riffs, but does that make them 'heavy'?

Someone mentioned AIC's "It Ain't Like That"...that riff is so awesome...I can't get enough of it.

It probably isnt' the heaviest, but when I read the title I immediately thought of "Iron Man"...to this day, that shit is still amongst the heavier riffs.

    Nice choice.

I thought of one last night -- "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Mansons. We can all admit that the chug of that riff is pretty damn heavy.

Stockholm Syndrome was already mentioned under it's other name, "A Song for the Dead".

That is a massive Queens rip-off riff. Pretty kick ass though

Dude! I saw them at Bonnaroo in 2008 and then again with Booker T. last year and they played it both times. It is a bad ass song. I still can't help losing it when that damn guitar kicks off at the beginning

I'm surprised something off "Bleach" hasn't been mentioned. Lot of heavy riffs there.

currently, i would say the 1st track off them crooked vultures where its toward the end of the song and than all of a sudden it hits you hard. the other track that hits so friggin hard at the end is At the Drive In's "invalid litter dept." its similar to TCV's riff but they are just so hard hitting. love it.
