I'd love to hear from all of you what some of your favorite live songs are and where they're from. I think it's most PJ fan's goal to go out there and find the best live versions. And what better place to go? It doesn't have to be your favorite, although it could be, it just has to be what you think is the best live version of that particular song.

Just listened to "All Those Yesterdays" from Boston 7/11/03 and wow, forgot how good that was.

Or, go through the five hours of daughter you have on your itunes and think of which was is the most amazing. From the Gorge on 7/22/06?

Thanks in advance I look forward to hearing from anyone. Never know, you could tell me a great version of a song I don't revisit often enough.

Jul 11, 1995... yellow ledbetter. this version is why this song is what it is... overall this concert is the epitome of pearl jam... live, raw, and gut spewingly honest. pearl jam obviously end the show with eddie cooly opting "okay, here's one" then mccready goes right into ledbetter. it is beautiful.

You should give this a try although it does need to be updated, it is still a good start.

  • Great Post, I started a thread like this awhile back, but it died fairly quickly as most people on this board would rather bitch about something or request a song than actually talk about live Pearl Jam!

I have recently completed a 7 disc live compilation from 1992-2009 and will hopefully get around to sharing it with everyone soon. Here's a few that made the cut.

Brain of J - St. Louis, MO 10-11-00
In My Tree - Pittsburgh, PA 09-05-00

  • off the top of my head. just going with songs that have improv in them...

alive- 11/7/96- so much energy here. ed lets the audience sing a bit and mike is going crazy at the end with a fan rocking out with ed on stage

betterman/sifl- 9/1/00: it get so out there and then they bring it real low and kick it into another gear for the finish

black- 6/18/92- man ed could sing back then...

crazy mary- 4/24/03- mike takes a huge solo here and it rips. whole show is one of the best of '03

fuckin' up- 6/29/03- band was tight at this point. it just keeps building and building

i've got a feeling- 3/2/92- ed's brother is with him on stage. by the end it's just ed on guitar and his bro on bass. a lot of boots are missing part of this version.

porch- 3/29/94- best porch from what i consider to be the best pj show ever. awesome ed speech before it and the version rips. it's long but never boring.

rvm- 10/11/00- gets a little noodly. but there is a good three minutes when the band is totally locked in.

ritfw- 3/17/95- Dave Grohl absolutely murders this version
"What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."

sort of... i made a list of my top 3 shows form each year a couple weeks back on here and a lot of those contain these versions. but most i can remember off thetop of my head. i listened to a lot of pj in college.

Deep - Las Vegas, NV 11-30-93

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!

This came on my ipod on shuffle yesterday. Haven't thought about this song in years. It fucking rips. Don't get me wrong, I love Ed Vedder's voice today, but there is just something so raw and awesome about his vocals at this show. Especially this version of Deep.
