    Here is an honest question:

    John McCain. Born in Panama. (in the militarized US zone of the Panama Canal). "In 1901 the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled in Downes v. Bidwell that unincorporated territories are not the United States." Furthermore, it is no longer claimed by the United States and is now a "Neutral Territory."

    So... there is precedent for him NOT BEING BORN IN THE US, according to Downes v. Bidwell.

    Secondly, it is not a US territory now. So, it would be like a German being born in Denmark during WWII and claiming he was born in "Germany" because it was militarized by that country.

    If McCain was the Prez, there would be an actual "birther" argument, instead of just hearsay. Thoughts?

    Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.

    So... a certificate of live birth is now LESS proof of Obama's citizenship than a rumor someone heard?

    I think we're all missing the bigger story here - I heard Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990. I mean, has he ever produced proof that he didn't?
    And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

    To all the republicans who hate Obama, why hate him? Isn't he basically a black GW? Were still spending like crazy, still in Iraq, still being biased in the middle east.     How has this rumor gotten to the point that people actually believe he isn't a US natural citizen? C'mon, this would have been a huge thing during the election. My dad believes Obama isn't a US citizen and just refuses to listen to anything else, or believe anything else.
    My dad is a strong democrat, he has run for office here, and has never shown me any sign of racism, yet I honestly think he is just being racist. He is 92 now, but I just cannot believe someone like him has turned against anyone in the democratic party. He use to go to meetings as part of the Democrat Club in his small city. He ran for council under the democrats at least 7 times. Yet, he argues that Obama is not a citizen and that is that!!
    I have to believe racism is fueling this bullshit.

    Personaly I have never given it much thought. I have always just figured it was right wing media stirring up the pot. I do see what you are saying though Otter. If there is no solid fact finding evidence, then there shouldn't be any problem questioning it. But on this Forum, chances are, you're gonna get attacked for it.
