However, this is VERY illegal and this thread should probably be deleted by the mods.
Selling an iPod filled with music is no different than selling bootleg CDs -- you are not selling the original music you purchased, but rather copies of this music. Even if the files are digital, only the original files that went straight to your PC are "original" -- whatever is on your iPod is copied.
I know, because I tried to do something similar before and got in trouble for it.
This ipod however would be legal to sell if it did not contain music that is still commercially available, ie 2008 bootlegs and the studio albums.
all of the other shows have download links here, and the band freely allows that so i don't see a reason why it would be illegal not to sell it. As long as there is no price being put on the content of the ipod, the sale is purely for the ipod hardware2003 - Sydney x3,2006 - Reading Festival,2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,2010 - I watched it go to fire!2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

True. If you took off the studio releases, 2008 bootlegs, and anything else that is still commercially available, you should be good.

The band is gracious enough to allow people to trade the boots and download them for free for you own personal enjoyment.
They have never given permission for fans to sell the bootlegs that they are nice enough to allow to be shared for free.
There is a big difference between selling the original boot CDs and selling digital copies. Once you sell the original CD boots they're gone... but theoretically someone could sell unlimited digital copies. Big difference.
To the OP... this is an amateur move and you know better.1996: Randall's Island 2 1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2 2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel 2005: Atlantic City 1 2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV) 2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4 2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2 2011: Toronto 1 2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2015: Central Park 2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD) 2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF) 2020: MSG | Asbury Park 2021: Asbury Park 2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville 2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2025: Raleigh 20 -

Making digital copies of the band's music and selling it is a douche bag move.1996: Randall's Island 2 1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2 2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel 2005: Atlantic City 1 2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV) 2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4 2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2 2011: Toronto 1 2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2015: Central Park 2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD) 2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF) 2020: MSG | Asbury Park 2021: Asbury Park 2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville 2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2025: Raleigh 20

but is selling an ipod for ipod value only a douche bag move?
the only difference is that the music is on there.

Dr. Teeth, I am extremely interested in knowing what you are trying to accomplish by doing this? I am completely fucking mystified by how you think this is something that should be taking place on this website. Please remember that a wave is followed by another wave, and just because the first wave didn't scare you doesn't mean that the following wave won't come crashing down.
I would suggest you delete this thread and pick a new band to listen to, because we don't need you openly doing what you're doing.0 -

ok, since we are shouting
THE STUDIO ALBUMS ARE STILL COPYRIGHTED AS ARE THE 2008 BOOTLEGS.
No one is talking about the other years, we all know they are public domain.
What the OP is advertising is effectively PIRATED material.
And we can all CAPITALIZE WORDS for EFFECTIVENESS.OH: You need to stop buying Pearl Jam stuff, we have no room
Me: How about we just get a bigger house?

im with you on this.. i think its so funny how mad people get when you try to make a buck..its like they part of the band and they take it so personal ..dr teeth wrote:you know what.....nevermind.if all of you arguing put as much energy into something constructive as you do into this, you could be world leaders.go change the world motherfuckers.that way you won't have ulcers when the next person here tries to sell something.have you seen the colors of my fathers eyes0

please do some reserch about copyrightes before you write something...it has nothing to do with albums/bootlegs..you dont copyright them you copywrite the songs.. EX. you write a song ,you copyright it, you own it its your for ever......UNLESS you are part of a label ...you write a song THEY own a % of it ,if not all of it.. its the songs that are copyright not the albums... i can go one more about this but im sure you know what im gettin at.. i have freinds who work for sony.and freidns that are in bands that you all know..i grew up on long island. part of the hard core scene. im good friends with guys from taking back sunday... thursday..glassjaw..silentmajority..ETC ETC ETC....so when it comes to music in any shape or form i know what im talking about....HELL you could write a song never ever play it and still copyright it..so if anyone ever records song that sound remotely like yours....can you say CA-CHING
AND NOW WE COME TO THE VAULT.....the reason why pearl jam has not RELEASED any of the past concerts .is do to the fact that sony still owns them...and as we speak there are talks goin on about perl jam getting the CATALOG so they can do what ever they want with them..........
on another side note...did you know that michael jackson OWNS the beattles catalog....meanig everytime you here a beattles song he gets paid...he has the writes to them what he says gos.you want to use one of the beattles songs in a comercial you dont go to Ringo/Paul/georg...you go to michael..
i know this has nothong to do with the OP but i just had to clear some stuff out..
no hard feeling i understand you all have your reasons. and respect that but you cant get madd at people just cause they wanna get rid of an ipod...that happens to have "some" pearl jam music on it
and for the record capitalizaing words does get your point acrossDirty Stuart wrote:ok, since we are shouting

you should research how to spell "copywrite" the proper way.0

Personally, I would contact TenC and find out what's acceptable. better safe than sorry and you are showing respect for the band and it's intelectual rights as well as the record companies involved. Stay out of trouble and always try to do right.0
