Mike Starr was with Layne Staley the night he died

“I was trying to keep him alive all day but I didn’t know the extent of his disease.” Starr responded that the friend said his body was shutting down. Staley had stated a few months prior in an interview with author Adriana Rubio that he knew he was dying and his body was shutting down. Starr said he left for a few hours because he was on Xanax and didn’t have the right frame of mind. He said he blacked out for a couple of weeks and then his friend’s body was found. He mentions specifically that the friend sat dead for a couple of weeks. Layne Staley’s body wasn’t found until two weeks after his passing.

i've watched mike on 'celebrity rehab' ...the guy has what seems to be serious mental issues along side of a lifetime of heavy drug use...it is sad to say, but i believe it

why? Layne was long gone befoe he actually died. He knew it. He told people about it. He would have died whether anyone brought him to the hospital or not. It was simply a matter of time.

I think of him often (no, not in the creepy "I felt as if I knew him" sort of way). I listened to all of Mad Season's live shows and Above yesterday. Miss the artist.

Even though he mentions this story when asked about his lowest point (so somewhere he probably feels it was) I think it's probably worse than what he's said. To me, any real thought about the night would make listeners/thoughtful observers even more upset.

For example, if LS was so weak his body was shutting down, that means that any drugs he was using were BROUGHT IN to his house.

Some person or persons brought them. The people that brought them in would probably be the last few people to see him.

Think of the guilt of that.

Maybe it'd be enough to make someone "black-out" for a few weeks? :?

From what I've gathered watching the show, Mike and Layne were close even years after he left the band. Did Jerry have a beef with Mike or something?

I heard on the radio the other day that he was kicked out because of drugs/ alcohol. Just like the DJs said, if you get kicked out of ALICE IN CHAINS for getting too fucked up... you're fucking bad off.

Anyway, this news is nucking futs! I bet we find out more soon. You know VH1 and Dr. Drew will try to milk this for all its worth.
