Mike Starr was with Layne Staley the night he died

I know some people will say "it could have been any friend." He mentioned the friend laid dead for 2 weeks. Layne was dead for 2 weeks before being discovered. Layne's body was shutting down. Also I read this rumor over a year ago, the exact rumor was Mike Starr was with Layne the night he died. Pretty crazy stuff, why didn't Starr take Layne to a hospital or call 911?

Wow....I saw that episode but it didn't click with me that it could have been Layne he was talking about. That's some tough shit to have to live with. Hope Mike pulls out of this.

It is comforting to know that Layne wasn't totally alone during his final day, at least he got to spend some time with one of his best friends before passing.

Wow...... Kind of shocked righted now. I always thought the worst part about his death was that he was alone and not discovered for two weeks. At least he had a friend with him.

“I was trying to keep him alive all day but I didn’t know the extent of his disease.” Starr responded that the friend said his body was shutting down. Staley had stated a few months prior in an interview with author Adriana Rubio that he knew he was dying and his body was shutting down. Starr said he left for a few hours because he was on Xanax and didn’t have the right frame of mind. He said he blacked out for a couple of weeks and then his friend’s body was found. He mentions specifically that the friend sat dead for a couple of weeks. Layne Staley’s body wasn’t found until two weeks after his passing.

Cuz starr was a huge drug addict too he probly didnt think the drugs were a big deal

i've watched mike on 'celebrity rehab' ...the guy has what seems to be serious mental issues along side of a lifetime of heavy drug use...it is sad to say, but i believe it

why? Layne was long gone befoe he actually died. He knew it. He told people about it. He would have died whether anyone brought him to the hospital or not. It was simply a matter of time.

I think of him often (no, not in the creepy "I felt as if I knew him" sort of way). I listened to all of Mad Season's live shows and Above yesterday. Miss the artist.

oh you misunderstand me. im not angry that mike was there and couldve perhaps called for help. im angry that the situation occurred.

Even though he mentions this story when asked about his lowest point (so somewhere he probably feels it was) I think it's probably worse than what he's said. To me, any real thought about the night would make listeners/thoughtful observers even more upset.

For example, if LS was so weak his body was shutting down, that means that any drugs he was using were BROUGHT IN to his house.

Some person or persons brought them. The people that brought them in would probably be the last few people to see him.

Think of the guilt of that.

Maybe it'd be enough to make someone "black-out" for a few weeks? :?

given the current info in this topic, I'm curious Why was Mike Starr booted from AIC? He said on the 1rst episode that he was asked to leave the band. From what I've gathered watching the show, Mike and Layne were close even years after he left the band. Did Jerry have a beef with Mike or something?

I heard on the radio the other day that he was kicked out because of drugs/ alcohol. Just like the DJs said, if you get kicked out of ALICE IN CHAINS for getting too fucked up... you're fucking bad off.

Anyway, this news is nucking futs! I bet we find out more soon. You know VH1 and Dr. Drew will try to milk this for all its worth.
