who doesn't have their t.v. hooked up?
who doesn't watch t.v.?
i disconnected my cable t.v. about 6-9 months ago to save money.
i do miss certain t.v. shows but not very many.
i like being among the people who don't watch (much) t.v.
seems to me that they are a smarter group of folks.
discuss.

My brother does not have cable. He only watches movies on his with my neice. She is going to be a genius..0

Here it doesnt matter if you dont have 'cable' you get 5 basic channels.. actually nowadays most households have something called 'freeview' where you get a mixture of channels like sport, comdey, news etc for free, this extends your 5 to about 30.0

we never had cable growing up and I still don't have it in my own house...I get the 7 channels that are free
I never sit down and search for something to watch or watch something for the heck of it...when I watch tv I am watching something I have specifically chosen to watch...there are certain shows I enjoy watching
most people are shocked to find out I don't have cable...in fact, my best friend's boyfriend asked her what I do with my time since I don't watch tv!
however, I do have netflix and enjoy watching movies0 -

well, i never had cable tv in my life until about a year ago this may. i like to think i'm intelligent, but yea...no genius.we only watched movies on our tv, some PBS here or there. went for cable simply for the HD capabilities, and sure...enjoy a few programs, but absolutely not with any regularity. we DVR, no reservations, diners, drive-ins and dives....hubby DVR's a few historical programs, anything supernatural, etc. tv is not evil, it does not make you fat, it does not rob you of your intellect. i *heart* my tv, mostly b/c i love, love, love watching blu-ray discs on a high def 52in screen with surround sound. ask me what shows are currently on, and i have not a clue.
Stay with me...

About 10 yrs ago I moved and never hooked up the cable. Up until that point I was a cable addict - I remember wasting an entire Sunday afternoon watching like a 5 hour History Channel series on trap doors for god's sake! Anyway, I moved and didn't have cable and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I missed it for a while, but I was amazed at how much more I got done in a day. About 3 yrs ago we moved again. Got Dish Network this time, but I've still retained the same viewing habits. I never watch before 10pm during the week and when I watch on weekends it's usually just sporting events. DVR has helped me watch what I want in that hour or so a day before go to sleep, and since I can skip commercials on DVR'd shows I end up watching about 40 mins per hour-long show. It's funny because I can't fall asleep with the TV on anymore, and when I go to someone's house who has TV on constantly as background noise it really bugs me now. Crazy, right?I smile, but who am I kidding...0

Well I have a tv but only watch VH1 channel and 1 or 2 more channels. I couldn't live without my VH1 classic. The tv programs on my country are a totally crap, it looks like they are made for retards. Hate that.México 24/11/20110

i have cable just cuz if i don't i get zero reception. i wish there was a way to get cable pro-rated by channel, since i only watch probably about 5-6 channels on a regular basis. don't think watching tv or not has any bearing on a person's intelligence....there are lots of good programs and documentaries available that help one keep learning
i've met a few folks in my time that refused to watch tv. a lot of them were dolts, so go figure0 -

exactly! i only watch like maybe 4-5 channels so pro-rated would be the way to go...i like the good ones where i can learn something
though i think watching too much t.v. could be detrimental...Post edited by prism on*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

81 Needing a ride to Forest Hills and a ounce of weed. Please inquire within. Thanks. Or not. Posts: 58,276it would be nice if cable was alacart. there are tons of channels i would dump from my package.
i'd start with telmundo and continue on to nickolodian, and finish up with all the shop at home networks.81 is now off the air0 -
I haven't had cable in many, many years. Got rid of the TV reception (network stations) altogether about 5 or so years ago. I felt like it was rotting my brain. I feel a little left out of some news and pop culture these days, but overall I think it was a great decision. I think it helps me to lead a more purposeful life. I still have a TV that I use for Netflix. And I go to my mom's to watch Lost.0

The only thing I would miss from T.V. is watching the NBA...and Dexter. Other than that, I could probably go without it.7/2/06 - Denver, CO

No tv for me. Nothing to watch. And I don't have cable....i refuse to pay for tv!! I'd watch maybe an hour a week....generally when I'm eating dinner. I watch movies on my tv though....or my computer.
If I am going to watch a tv show, it's generally a boxset like Arrested Development or something like that and I'll watch the whole thing in a couple a hits then go back to no tv.★ 1995 - Brisbane ★ 1998 - Brisbane ★ 2003 - Brisbane ★ 2006 - Brisbane ★
