    UKDave, the same thing happened to me, I think it might be iTunes 9 that's doing it.

    I reckon so too as I tried the new ipod on the pc initially and had all the same trouble.

    I've loaded itunes onto the work lap top (ssh...) and have the music files on a separate hard drive and it works fine now. Old pc won't properly reinstall itunes now though...
