Well, I don't have a wife, but if hubby had done the same, I think I'd be seriously pissed off!! Do the £5 budget thing next year (although as well as getting £5 pressie (The Fisher King DVD) he went and bought me a new phone - which made me feel a bit tight).
Edit - If she doesn't want the bag I'll have it, I've never owned a bag/anything worth that much (other than house/car)
