He's of an age where the suggestion that I get someone to look after him would be met with hilarity. So his PS3 is looking after him :? Not to make excuses for abandoning my son, but he is pretty good responsibility wise, he can make his own lunch, knows how to sort things out if there's a problem plus I'm only a mile away and always have my mobile with me. I feel really guilty now, like an incredibly bad mother :( I wouldn't leave him on his own all day, everyday, or night.

Am I an appaling mother?

I don't know now, before we split up in our mid 20's he had a thing with someone, but not sex, I punched him in the face (after asking permission to do so), I don't know now. We were talking about the same thing the other day and he reckoned that's it, over, as soon as someone sleeps with someone else. I don't know though - if it's just one night of sex with no emotional attachement at all, person never seen again, I think that I would find that easier to forgive than if he fell in love with someone but never slept with her. Hell, guess until you're in that situation you just don't know.
