Dont know much about how it works....
Do you get your check once a month?? Once a week??? Twice a month????
The reason I ask?? I went to the grocery store yesterday, spent $100, and barely had half a cart full of food...
I notice people walking throught the store with shopping carts just LOADED with groceries....Hundreds and Hundreds of dollars in food, and stuff......
I work hard, Kathy works hard, we both make good money.....
These people walking through the store with these grocery carts just LOADED with food??? I am just going to say that 90% of them dont even look like they can spell the word employed.
So I was wondering...Did they just get their 1st of the month check?
Is this supposed to be a months worth of food?
Is there a limit on the amount of time you can collect public aid??
Or is this there way of life? Get government aid, buy groceries........
The other thing I noticed about a majority of these people?? There shopping carts were just LOADED with CRAP....Nothing healthy, just loads and loads of crap.

Happy New Year!!!!
I was just fascinated yesterday.....
These people had HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of dollars worth of food in there carts.....And I am thinking to myself...
"I would have to make at least $100,000 a year to afford that".....
Yet the people buying this shit are walking around in sweatpants and dirty clothing.
I must be doing something wrong....Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....0 -
and i'll bet you didn't see any coupons or sale ad's in their carts though.
disheartening to say the least.
these days $100 worth of groceries can easily fit into 4 bags
and you're still out of milk by the end of the week.Nice shirt.0 -

Kathy and I see a young couple, very young, in there 20's.....
With enough fucking food to feed an army....
Yet there is no way these KIDS can afford this.....
So I am going to guess they are on some type of public aid......Yet they are in there 20's? Already feeding off the government????
Its a way of life...right???
Its the way they were brought up....right???
This is the way they are SUPPOSED to behave.....Because this is the way they were taught to behave.....right???Take me piece by piece.....

and then stop at McDonald's on the way home.
everyone can fall on hard times, especially now.
but it would make more sense, at least to me, to try and stretch your food dollar
especially now, no matter who is paying for it. junk food is expensive.
what a waste in every sense of the word.Nice shirt.0 -
Funny...
But I left the grocery store yesterday realizing.....
There is something seriously fucking wrong with this country we live in....Take me piece by piece.....

Actually, junk food is cheap...that's why people on welfare/food stamps get so much of it and, in turn, is why obesity rates fr those in poverty is higher. It's cheaper to buy Oreos and McDonalds than it is to buy some fresh produce. Junk food is cheap, which is why they load up on it: they can.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"

agreed. the skewed way in which public aid funds are distributed
has always left me a bit befuddled.
frankly, i'm amazed that such practices have been allowed to continue, seemingly unregulated
and unscrutinized. or at least that's the way it seems.
and a simple trip to the grocery store is a glaring example of that.Nice shirt.0 -

well where i shop a couple of $.99 a pound whole chickens,
a 10 pound bag of potatoes and some canned vegetables
are much more inexpensive and can feed a family much longer
than a $4.00 bag of Doritos.
maybe i shop at the wrong store.
it's all about choices. and today's society, unfortunately, is all about the easiest choice
no matter what it costs.Nice shirt.0 -

yes it's cheap but it has little nutritional value so you must consume more of it whereas if you had just bought a chicken and some veggies it would last longer and be better for you and you've saved money0 -

i realized this 20 years ago...where've you been?

Holy shit. I was in the super market last month and this couple was buying 6 gallons of milk and doing it in 3 different transactions. All I could think of was the family selling the milk for 2 bucks a gallon and buying some crack with the profits. And they were using food stamps. I was seething in anger.(at the store for doing it and at the people)0

maybe they were shopping for a new years party?
and they forgot to do their laundry so they went with dirty clothes... lol i dno
i have been re-doing the living room in the basement and my boyfriend and i went to the liquor store in our painting clothes... bought a bunch of stuff for new years eve looking all scrubby - i hope people weren't thinking the same thing with us!

Some of em are prolly food stampin it, but some of them just have no shame.
I don't mind people rockin the LINK card, especially the way things are now, but from workin in retail I can tell that about 25% of the people that get it actually need it.
My other point.....Can people not wash up a little or put somethin decent on before goin in public? People would stink, have dirty clothing, ratty hair, slimy teeth....... How bout take 5 freakin minutes and do somethin about that?0 -

Which makes sense to you or I, but instant gratification is the name of the game if you use food stamps. You're not generally thinking long term when you are trying to make a few bucks go a long way so you can feed our family.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"

Meh. I've been one of those people who has literally rolled out of bed (brushed my teeth) and ran to the grocery store to pick up a few necessary items.
As a teenager, I worked at a grocery store and I saw a lot of dirty, smelly people, many of whom were simply on their way home from work. People would give them dirty looks, but hey, after 10 hours of painting or installing pools or landscaping in the hot sun, the last thing I'd want to do is get home, shower, and then have to go back out again. Once I'm home and showered, I'd have a beer and be relaxing for the evening, so go ahead and drop in, smelly and all.
