Interesting but I still think the tour is starting at Coachella and I think they will play Beal Street Festival in Memphis the same weekend as Jazz Fest.
I can't agree with this. Beale Street Music Festival is not a major league US festival like the ones they've played the past 3-4 years:
Lollapalooza
Bonnaroo
Austin City Limits
JazzFest
that one in San Francisco whose name escapes me...
BSMF is not the place I'd expect to see PJ turn-up in the spring. But a Memphis show @ FedEx Forum in the middle of a Texas/SE US/Florida run in April & May.

Go to disagree with you on this. Well, with Jazz Fest especially. I'd expect to see Pearl Jam at Beale street before Jazz Fest. That was a HUGE surprise to me.
Have you seen the line up for Beale Street the last few years? MANY of the same artist play both.0 -

I grew up in north MS, very close to Memphis, so I always watch and see who's in the lineups for BSMF. To me, they've been underwhelming lately. Especially last year.
I understand that many artists will get booked for both festivals (and used to play these two plus Midtown Music in Atlanta--when it existed) in the same weekend. But I just don't see PJ as one of them. For one reason, I don't think BSMF offers the type of money that PJ is making off these huge festival appearances. I mean, it's sponsored by AutoZone, Sam's Town Casino, and Cellular South (vs. AT&T, Dell, and Honda @ other fests).
If the guaranteed money is there, I'm sure PJ would give it some thought.

given the european schedule, it would not surprise me to see other US festivals announced at later dates
and I do think they will play coachella unless they have some exclusive agreement with jazz fest
but I am surprised at the jazz fest announcement-I would never have guessed they would play that festival
maybe a gig at tanglewood is imminent

it gets you in, but not up close. there's some VIP/gold circle packages if you want to be up on the rail. and yes, the 'high end' is what gets you up there. i don't think i could handle having to duke it out all day at a festival to keep a rail spot, so the VIPs who want to shell out $$$ can have the easy access to it. well, i don't plan on going in any case :P...but just sayin', if i did....to me, a festival.....it would be more relaxed/chill, and move about a lot more, and definitely would not expect to be close b/c there's no way in hell i would pay $600 for the privilege of access to the front.

...and a ton of that $600 golden circle ticket price is going to pay them, so, PJ is kinda to blame.ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

that's on jazzfest, not pj.
just sayin'.
i read jazzfest did it last year and decided to do so again this year. pj is just playing, not setting the parameters. that's up to the festival.
also, i do believe the $600 pricetag is for the whole weekend, not one day...so not comparable to the $40, at all. that $40 has to be quadrupled to compare. and sure, still, $600 in comparison to $160 is still a huge jump....but it's not $600 compared to $40. just to clarify.Post edited by decides2dream onStay with me...

Just curious, do you think that this is a new thing that Jazz fest just installed for PJ? PJ wants to play this festival, this is one of the conditions Jazz Fest puts forth. I guess they could just not play it though....got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0
