  • I was at both Sydney and Melbourne and I would pick Melbourne as having closer to 50,000 and Sydney around the 40,000 mark.

Probably true ..... in the stands!! But the oval itself, as well as the stands were packed !!! the paper said almost 25,000 the next day !!

    nah
    stands only hold about 3500

i read 13000 tickets were available for the show in total...

    the stadium is tiny
    tiny as best
its really not a good venue
pearl jam would sound awsome no matter where they play... but its not so good for anything else

Not sure where you got your info but according to the stadiums official site (http://membersequitystadium.com.au/si_fac.html):

"For sporting fixtures Members Equity Stadium is capable of accomodating up to 18,156 patrons. For cultural and artistic events the playing field is capable of accomodating up to 18,000 patrons (not including surrounding seating)." & "Maximum spectator capacity of over 18,000 and provision for an additional 18,000 seats on the pitch"

Also on http://www.pearljamtour.tv/ Michael Chugg reporting on the day of the Perth show said there would be "26,000 people here tonight" or something to that effect and that tallies with what the Perth media reported.

Where'd you hear the number? 35K is pretty great, considering they're also playing Chch. I wonder how many they've sold down there? Last time they played Mt Smart (and earlier Queens Wharf) they only got 20K or something, so 35K is awesome! It's going to be great!

As someone who was at Bris, Melbourne and Sydney, let's just say there was a crapload of people. Too hard to judge how many.

When they announced this stadium tour I wondered if they could pull it off and brig in a lot of people.

    They pulled it off.

seems to me that no shows were sold out? i mean, the 10c homepage had links to buy tix for the shows up right until the very end? big-ass stadiums!
That's generally the case for any Australian shows though, was the same in 2006 in arenas. There's just far fewer 10C members over here compared to the US, usually a few hundred at each show at best.

Melbourne had the most 10c ppl mustve been a couple of thousand easy....probably 3k
