  • All approx ....

    Perth, 25, 000

    Adelaide, 20, 000

    Melbourne, 45,000

Sydney expected close to 50, 000
  • i dunno bout other venues
but apparently members equity stadium in Perth will only allow 15000
makes much more sense to live in the present tense
  • Probably true ..... in the stands!! But the oval itself, as well as the stands were packed !!! the paper said almost 25,000 the next day !!
  • i just got back from sydney and melbourne,

and I would have to say

    Melbourne 45,000-50,000
    Sydney 40,000-45,000

the GA was much bigger in Melbourne.

That's generally the case for any Australian shows though, was the same in 2006 in arenas. There's just far fewer 10C members over here compared to the US, usually a few hundred at each show at best.

  • Official number of people at the Sydney show from the guy who is like the main man at the SFS (sorry dont know his title - the SFS boss) 39,000 people last night. Thats a lot of people.

was no criticism, just merely a statement.
i also added the caveat of "big-ass stadiums" to drive that point home. :)
surprised they played such large arenas.
also a big part of why i decided to stay home this oz tour...i can see em in big-ass stadiums at home. and sure, GA is fun - but i actually wanted my mediocre 10c # to get me awesome seats in oz. next tour. 8-)

I reckon there were more at Melbourne than at Sydney.
Adelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/2014

If there were 30K+ people at the SFS on Sunday (and that looked like a possible number from where I was standing), would that make that show the biggest Oz PJ crowd since Eastern Creek in 1995? From memory, that show also had a crowd of about 30k.

I thought someone said 40,000 in Melbourne?
  • I was at both Sydney and Melbourne and I would pick Melbourne as having closer to 50,000 and Sydney around the 40,000 mark.

Not sure where you got your info but according to the stadiums official site (http://membersequitystadium.com.au/si_fac.html):

"For sporting fixtures Members Equity Stadium is capable of accomodating up to 18,156 patrons. For cultural and artistic events the playing field is capable of accomodating up to 18,000 patrons (not including surrounding seating)." & "Maximum spectator capacity of over 18,000 and provision for an additional 18,000 seats on the pitch"

Also on http://www.pearljamtour.tv/ Michael Chugg reporting on the day of the Perth show said there would be "26,000 people here tonight" or something to that effect and that tallies with what the Perth media reported.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

Where'd you hear the number? 35K is pretty great, considering they're also playing Chch. I wonder how many they've sold down there? Last time they played Mt Smart (and earlier Queens Wharf) they only got 20K or something, so 35K is awesome! It's going to be great!

Totally Auckland is sooooooo far away! (I live in Feilding so a good 7 hours to Auckland, only 2 hours to Wellies.)

Yeah ME Bank Stadium holds 18,000 for the Soccer...and I'm sure there would of atleast been an EXTRA 10,000 in the GA area :)

As someone who was at Bris, Melbourne and Sydney, let's just say there was a crapload of people. Too hard to judge how many.

When they announced this stadium tour I wondered if they could pull it off and brig in a lot of people.

    They pulled it off.
