I've been the last two years in a row but don't plan on going next year...hoping to have the opportunity to catch a couple of PJ shows instead....I could be messing up.
but anyway...its a great time and you won't regret going.
The first time around we overdid it a little bit on what we took so the second year we scaled back a bit.
things I would suggest for sure....
a tent of course
something like a pop-up shade tent to put over your sleeping and maybe a tarp to stretch over it to shield the sun in the morning, plus that will help protect the tent should there be any rain. For bathing we took a couple of large plactic jugs, put them up on the side of the truck and just dumped it on ourselves, washing with soap of course and that actually worked pretty well. There are showers available but the lines tend to be quite long
the bonnaroo website has good information on what not to bring and the folks over at www.inforoo.com have all kinds of helpful tips....some more than others....but still an excellent way to familiarize yourself with what to expect.
as far as food we just took snacks and beer....you can eat for cheap inside the festival
I don't know how much of a drinker you are but last year I went with a non-drinker and took 36 beers but I drank very few of them beyond the first day because I was NEVER at the campsite except first thing in the morning and then again when i was ready to get some shut-eye...
As far as money goes I guess it differs from person to person....last year I believe I had $300..maybe $400...and spent every dime but those $6 beers add up it a hurry but like I said you can eat very reasonably. If you are a big spender you can go through it in a hurry with all the t-shirts and other stuff that will be available.
If you have any more specific questions you can shoot me a pmPost edited by Yellow Ledbelly onAll I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

Got the email yesterday and you can order them beginning saturday I think for five payments of $50. When they go on sale in february the most expensive ones will be closer to $300 or right at itryanrunning wrote:also how much are tickets running for it?All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

Bonnaroo is a life-altering experience!!!! Be prepared for the time of your life. The biggest shock though is the heat. It is fucking HOT! I live in FL so I'm used to heat and humidity but not being exposed to it for 96 straight hours. Shade is a must at your campsite. I'd also recommend mister fans to bring into Centeroo with you. Stock up on food, water, and beer so you dont have to spend too mcuh $ in C-roo. Make friends with your neighbors the minute you park. I didnt even sleep in our tent as they tend to feel like an oven. I slept under our canopy on a beach chair with a sheet. It was perfect. Tix will end up being just under $300 this year it seems. they offer a payment plan, 5 payments of 50, I'm not sure if that includes the fees or not. We brought a big thermos style water cooler with a spout to brush teeth, wash hands and feet. Bring baby wipes too, it'll help you stay less disgusting. See as much music as possible, especially bands you never heard of. Damn, I'm jealous. have fun and be prepared for a lot of fun. Definitely sign up on the roo message boards. There's a wealth of information to be found there.

I went to Rothbury, and while it's not as hot, a lot of the same advice. Bring only nonperishable foods, as dumb as that may sound - ice isn't reliable to keep anything cold. Stay hydrated (bring LOTS of water) and remember to eat to stay energized. Everyone is pretty friendly and is each others friends, but always watch your back - there's always some shady people. See as much music as possible and have the time of your life. As the person above me said, check out Inforoo - they'll have checklists, past threads on advice and a load of veterans that will answer any question you need.Pittsburgh 6/23/06
