Ohhh bitter cuz we don't agree with you, much?!

You have to think, this is album of the decade. The Strokes certainly don't cut it for me, or for many people as it goes. The album hardly had an impact if you ask me...

You have to remember that one person's Strokes is another's Cannibal Corpse... and that opinions are like arseholes; everyone has one and they don't necessarily smell how you want them to ;)
i was talking about the magazines opinion there asshole. you should wait sometimes before jumping the gun on someone. but yes i do like the strokes and i dont give a fuck who you like, i dont even know you. i was trying to be informative not objective. and as far as it not having an impact. whether you like it or not you cannot deny it did have an impact. if you do your just in denial.

this reads like "the album had no impact, and you cannot deny that." is that what you intended?

    Jeez... calm down

I wasn't having a direct dig at you, I was merely stating MY opinion. You're right, you don't know me so please, don't be childish and call me an asshole. Re-read my post and see that I wasn't calling ANYONE any names. Maybe you should've made it clear that you were talking about the magazines opinion and not your own in the first place.

I PERSONALLY don't think The Strokes had a major impact. I'm sorry if you don't agree with that but that's just YOUR OPINION.

Have you tried yoga? I hear that's good for snappy tempers and stress relief...
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
  • I don't see any major impact from that album. It's been a long time since I've even thought about The Strokes.

I can see why they chose it. The strokes kind of steered rock in the direction that it is currently going. Soooooo many bands have copied the Strokes sound but nobody ever seems to talk about that much. The strokes are very underrated imo and I'd say it was a solid choice. Not to mention, that album is brilliant.

*PS - we don't need to see everyone's top 1000 band list that they would have chosen instead of the strokes, instead how about an actual discussion?

Is This It has some great songs, but also quite a bit of filler.

Songs for the Deaf - I'd probably go with this, if not for all the annoying radio clips throughout.

Kid A - This is what I'm going with.

    Others in the running:

    Elephant
    Binaural, Avocado, Backspacer
A Rush of Blood to the Head
    Songs About Jane
Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila,  PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Tres Mtns - TLA 3/23/11; EV - Tower Theatre 6/25/11; Temple of the Dog - Tower Theatre 11/5/16
  • John Frusciante - Shadows Collide With People
  • The Strokes were forced upon everyone as the "saviours or rock" from day one, which is a complete joke. It doesn't surprise me that NME has yet to remove their heads from their asses.

I loved Is this It?, but to call it the best album of the decade is a bit much. Rolling Stone rated it as the #2 album of the decade, so it seems the critics tend to agree.
