It's an album that I think is going to have to grow on me. " reptiles" is the best song right now.PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

send it to me, Brisk. I'll paypal you some cash!
Not really ragging, all I'm saying is that if you've not heard what's on the album, han it may be best NOT to have high expectations. We all have a right to an opinion. 8-)7/2/06 - Denver, CO

i dont get why people WOULDNT think it sounds like QOTSA.. considering Josh Homme is the lead singer/guitarist and Dave Grohl did drum on the QOTSA album Songs For The Deaf.. pretty much there best album.. so i did kinda expect it to be very much like QOSTA.Sydney 8-11-06, 18-11-06; Melbourne 20-11-09, Sydney 22-11-09, Manchester 20-06-12, 21-06-120

Bwahahaha this is the funniest thing i've ever seen on this forum :P
Well what happened back in the day when people couldn't check out youtube for previews and shit eh? I did listen to 2 songs on youtube and didn't think much but they have been off songs :P I'm an avid collector of music, i'll buy a cd and check it out, hence why im going to see them live anyway
The production is nice which is a good thing, just the music in it is just so hyped. Guess i was expecting the totally wrong thing but maybe i'll dig them if i see them live.0 -

Big Drop wrote:Seems a bit silly to purchase an album before you even listen to it, considering Them Crooked Vultures uploaded the entire album to youtube. I listened to the whole thing and loved every song.
I really can't listen to anyone who complains the entire album sounds the same. It doesn't. Unless you're familiar with the intricacies of John Paul Jones and David Grohl, it's easy to think that everything sounds like it's influenced by Josh Homme. There's definitely some Zeppelin and Foo Fighters to be heard in the songs. I swear the opening riff to Elephants even sounds like something by The Black Crowes, which John Paul Jones never participated with, but Jimmy Page did and I'm sure the two talked while Page played with them.
If you have your mind made up, then you have your mind made up, but you're doing yourself a disservice by filing this band away as a Homme knockoff band. Say what you will about The Eagles of Death Metal, but Them Crooked Vultures are dynamite.
If anyone is interested, this link will bring you to youtube where every song off of the album is posted.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, including you. That's not what I was saying. The guy said the cd isn't what he expected it to be, and you:
1) say it was silly of him to buy it before listening (which I disagree with-it's not like this is a "new" band per say)
2) dismiss him entirely by saying you can't listen to someone who thinks it all sounds the same.
Sounds to me like you don't think he's entitled to his opinion, that's all.Gimli 1993

I was a Kyuss fan before I was a Queens of the Stone Age fan. I know all of Kyuss' music. I like Welcome to Sky Valley as much as the next guy.....but I totally prefer QOTSA to Kyuss....mainly because I don't care for John Garcia's voice.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Nope, that's not the end of the thread. I said I like Kyuss, but I don't really care for his voice. So obviously I don't base music on the vocals if I can like a band whose singer's voice I'm not too into. I don't hate it or anything. I just prefer Josh's voice.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. i just think josh has a much more distinct voice while the fellow from Kyuss has a pretty standard voice.
TCV sound exactly like i thought they would given the members of the band.0
