I remember my first Backspacer listen...as soon as I got to this badboy it just instantly hooked me and pulled me in! SUCH a groove! Absolutely LOVE IT! And then you open with the lines "understand she's a force of nature" Oh come on!!! It's just too damn good!
I agree that it paints such a vivid picture too!! I love that about it. Really takes you on a journey...you can clearly see it all.theoceansmademe wrote:Makes me ache,... Makes me shake,...
Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?
My favorite part of the song.
Ah I LOVE that part!!!!!!!! And then how it just KICKS back in!!!!!! YES YES YES!!!
The line "a beacon on dry land" = just plain brilliant! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! So much LOVE for everything that is this song!!!!!! SO thrilled to have experienced it LIVE in SD AND PHILLY! The crowd absolutely ate it UP in Philly!!!! Was awesome to see this song getting the kinda reaction it rightfully deserves!
*bows down to THE JAM...it's one HELL of a FORCE*
I like the way it paints a good picture too.&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 -
Totally! It actually kinda reminds me of Tremor Christ in that sense...painting a vivid picture, taking you on a journey, a storm at sea. I don't know, they just kinda remind me of each other. They're like siblings in my mind. :P
This song RULES! Hands down one of my favs to date! I love the way the music and Eddie's voice completely compliment each other...the way his melodies matches the music like they're one. I don't know, I just love it! Also love how it ends with a solo! How cool is that!?!?

Ms. Haiku wrote:This is it. If I ever get married this would be the song. Two people who are nothing to others find so much between them. I think this is the best love song PJ created. I tell you, there's quite a bit of love on this album, eh?
here's another good song for a wedding--little depressing though for a mass of people--off the true romance soundtrack

Anyone ever read the Odyssey? Story of Odysseus (or Ulysses)? Read the story of The Sirens.
What a great great song. i dont see it as being disasterous. its about the strength in love.0 -
Bump! Just because this is such an awesome song and should be talked about. I like many different lines and parts but my favorite is the very end "but his heart don't seem to roammmmmmmm!" That part just soars.0

It is about strength in love, but also about unrequited love.
And I have seen O Brother Where Art Thou?"They don't give a shit Keith Moon is dead,
is that exactly what I thought I read."0 -
A few days in a row I awoke hearing these words:
"somewhere there's a siren singing a song only he hears. all the strength that you might think would disappear, resolving..." and I had no idea which song it was, so I went listening and found that it was this song!
I love this song! Also, love the Alice in wonderland reference and how it just keeps on going for three verses telling the story!" I'm like an opening band for the sun "0 -
I love the part when he says "A common man, he don't stand a chance, no, wonderland pulling Alice in the hole." For me it just creates in my mind how mysterious and beautiful and irresistable the person he's singing about is. It's a gorgeous song, one of my favorites off Backspacer. The oceans made me, but who came up with love?
