    I agree that it paints such a vivid picture too!! I love that about it. Really takes you on a journey...you can clearly see it all.

    The line "a beacon on dry land" = just plain brilliant! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! So much LOVE for everything that is this song!!!!!! SO thrilled to have experienced it LIVE in SD AND PHILLY! The crowd absolutely ate it UP in Philly!!!! Was awesome to see this song getting the kinda reaction it rightfully deserves! :D

    Totally! It actually kinda reminds me of Tremor Christ in that sense...painting a vivid picture, taking you on a journey, a storm at sea. I don't know, they just kinda remind me of each other. They're like siblings in my mind. :P

    This song RULES! Hands down one of my favs to date! I love the way the music and Eddie's voice completely compliment each other...the way his melodies matches the music like they're one. I don't know, I just love it! Also love how it ends with a solo! How cool is that!?!? :D :thumbup:

    this is by far one of my all-time favorite Pearl Jam songs....I simply love everything about it, especially the vivid picture in my head...it's amazing and i can't get enough of it!

    just watched the youtube 10/30 performance and man they should play this every night.

    Between this and Speed of Sound backspace has become an hour long record when factoring in my repeats.

    Bump! Just because this is such an awesome song and should be talked about. I like many different lines and parts but my favorite is the very end "but his heart don't seem to roammmmmmmm!" That part just soars.

    A few days in a row I awoke hearing these words:
    "somewhere there's a siren singing a song only he hears. all the strength that you might think would disappear, resolving..." and I had no idea which song it was, so I went listening and found that it was this song!
    I love this song! Also, love the Alice in wonderland reference and how it just keeps on going for three verses telling the story!

    I love the part when he says "A common man, he don't stand a chance, no, wonderland pulling Alice in the hole." For me it just creates in my mind how mysterious and beautiful and irresistable the person he's singing about is. It's a gorgeous song, one of my favorites off Backspacer.
