Prayers for my son Vedder!

Long time reader, first time post.

My wife delivered our twins @ 32 weeks on July 3, 2008

Vedder Gabriel & Winter Evangeline

Last week my son was thriving and close to discharge when he developed Necrotizing Enterocolitis. A devastating GI disease that we are currently battling. Please keep our family in your prayers.

    Those doctors are so great today, you should stay confident and realize that everthing will be o.k..
    Stay as close to your wife at all times. I'm sure you're already doing that though.

    So sorry to hear about that. It's allways most heart-rending when the smallest ones are concerned.

    Firstly....congratulations on the birth of your twins :)

    So sorry to hear of the complications though :( You're all in my thoughts.
    Like the previous poster said - Drs are great these days and above all keep positive!

    Our newborn son had pyloric stenosis that went undiagnosed because it arrived shortly after birth when that is normally seen at about 6weeks. I know how frightening this is for you and your wife. Having great doctors and your faith in them will bring you through this. You are in our prayers and I agree you chose simply beautiful names. I can just see little Vedder going off to kindergarden!

    Stay strong. From what I've read, this is something that babies can and do recover from. It is terribly frightening to see your tiny child suffer. I don't think there is a more helpless feeling for a parent than to see your child go through something that you can't make better. (Unfortunately, this is true if they are 19 hours or 19 years old!)

    What you can do is take care of yourself and your wife so that when Vedder is released into your care, you are in the best possible shape to meet his needs. Winter also needs you and your wife to be as emotionally and physically together as this situation allows.

    This web site was very informative yet easy to understand for those like me who had never heard of Necrotizing Enterocolitis.

    Like Vedder's namesake says, sometimes you just have to ride the wave where it takes you. My prayer is that it sets you and your beautiful family gently down upon the shore.
