Crohn's Disease

I dated someone a while back who had crohns. it concerned me because he didn't really take care of himself very well. I think he avoided dairy and stuff like that, but drank beer and ate and drank a lot of stuff I didn't think you were supposed to with crohns.0

Sadly, my diet isn't what it should be. However, I've had days where I didn't eat much...just drank water and still go to the bathroom 10 times.

I only know a couple people with Crohns personally;)
But the one chick I know seems to have a real problem eating properly.
I cant imagine having to make such huge changes in diet but if it meant not being in pain I would give it my all. It just seemed fake coming from her.
but I guess I should have also quit smoking by now.the person below me smells like cat pee and raisins...0 -

I don't have much pain since they took some of my colon. However, not having part of your colon makes you go to the bathroom a lot. If I never sit down on the toilet again I would be a happy man.

Understandable. We already have the support of the CCFA for the next tour.
You're forever bookmarked in Pearl Jam history...not many of us can say that.

The wife and myself are really hoping for some show's in Canada and some shows close the Ontario border. We are planning to travel for this next tour, and would love to hit a Kentuky show
I'm going to do my part and attempt to get CCFC support if PJ comes back to Canada for a few shows (hopefully more then a few!
)
So few have understood what kind of pain Crohn's brings, and the difficulties the side effects of the medication AND the disease itself bring. The vast majority of people in this thread show the understanding and compassion I've always hoped I would find. I am very fortunate to have met people like PBM.
Gather strength from friends and family. It's needed for the long road ahead. That strength will help through the trials and tests that are in the future. I learned at a rather young age that life is to short to allow this illness to win. It's tough to adjust a lifestyle so radically, but i'd much rather have the life, then the style.

Agreed Krohn...everyone is very supportive...Everyone has been really great about rallying around our cause.
The more awareness we spread, the closer we are to a cure.

PBM, is the low energy due to all the calories you eat just like being evacuated before your body can use them? it seems like you must have to eat all the time.0 -

Because I am anemic, I have to get a B-12 shot monthly because I lose so much by going to the bathroom all the time.

I saw my gastroenterologist today and I am suppose to start Remicade on May 12.
Sure hope all goes well with the medication. My brother has Crohn's, I myself have IBS & Fibromyalgia and this Jan 30 will be 4 yrs since I had 1/3 of my colon removed because of cancer. So far I am cancer free. still struggle with the other things but its nice to be alive!!!!!!0
