i already have this hotel booked for the msg shows. ive been reading some of the reviews on trip advisor and the reviews mix from being the worst hotel in the world to it being a good hotel for a night or two. can anybody who stayed there before give me what i should expect from this joint? im only there for the 24th to the 25th but want to know if it is as bad as some of these reviews.
Thanks!
Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me

is that the hotel Tom Hanks stays at in the movie Big when he first grows older and goes to the city?

I've never stayed there though...have heard the same mixed things

I stayed there in '03 its not that bad for a place to crash after the show. The location itself should sell you on it, right across the street!

several threads about this already. but i am telling you to not book there!

i work in hotels and worked for a marriott in mahattan for a couple of years and i know hotel penn has been written up quite a few times for bed bugs. stay away!

hotel industries are HURTING right now... you can find an afforable room almost anywhere in the city right now. check marriott, we can use your business :)

Trip advisor ROCKS!! Someone even started a thread on there looking for a hotel near MSG and several mentioned they were going to the PJ shows...was it you?

the main reason i booked it was for the location, taking the train up from philly, staying one night and leaving after the second show. im just hoping that the bed bugs are friendly and diseseless :)

hostel Big Apple for us..basically $40 a night each, and we booked a whole dorm so no 'sharing' anyway (and sharing isn't always bad anyway..just I'm starting to get a bit old for it, with strangers anyway ;))

I have a mixed review myself! We stayed there during a brief vacation in 2004. The first room they gave us was awful. Dirty. One small bed (for 2 not-so-small people) with a mattress thinner than a maxi-pad. Nasty old bathroom. We asked to be moved, and they happily obliged. The second room wasn't really on the opposite end of the spectrum, but it was a drastic improvement. Cleaner overall, newer bed.
I think it's worth if for a couple of nights for sheer convenience-factor.
If your room is ick, asked to be moved.

I've stayed at the Penn. Not very nice and the property is in limbo due to possibly being part of the Penn Station redevelopment deal. Doubt they have been spending a lot on maint.

Several PJers are staying at the Wellington. Decent rates (for NYC) if you book directly through their website. Great location and two stops from MSG on the subway.

What's the secret on getting good rates at Marriot?

The NYC rates on their site are pretty high.
