I was at that show, great time, but i knew every song they were going to play. Took some of the fun out of it.Gmoney wrote:one of the best for sure... my vote is for boston 3 2003SPEEDY MCCREADY wrote:cincy 06...........
That was one of my least favorite shows out of the 30 I have seen. Right up there with Top 40 Camden shows.4Powers20 wrote:Of what I have seen I would have to say either MSG2 98 or State College 03. State College was such a "you had to be there show" . The boot is amazing but being there was insane. Every thing about that show was perfect. Release opener. 2 improvs. What probably is the best Betterman ever. The Satan's Bed failed attempt. One of the best Daughters ever. The whole Porch speech in the middle when Ed starts talking about we are a "force to reckon with" and then doing the guitar mirror thing with the lights and he scans the whole crowd, and the very last spot he gets to is a guy holding a Penn State Flag, and Ed leaves it on him for a minute while the crowd goes nuts. Ed putting on the Dr J jersey thrown on stage. The daring the crowd to leave. The 40+ minute third encore.
I agree! State College was the longest and best show ever. "If you want to stick around, we we are willing to make this the longest PJ show ever!" or "we hereby open the floor for requests."09/02/00 09/05/00

there are a good 12-15 shows that could easily vie for the top spot. I think it just depends on what your favorite era is, what show means the most to you, whether you were there or not, etc.

There are a TON of great and near perfect PJ shows, and it is hard to just pick one. If I had to pick one it would be Torin from 2006. The band was tighter than a nun, Ed's voice was perfect, and the set list(in my eyes) was to kill for. Avocado is more than likely my favorite PJ album to date and to hear the whole damn album live is awesome. Not to mention each song is flawless. Incredible show.My first PJ show to witness was at Bonnaroo. How is that for lucky?0

Chicago 95 would not even make my top twenty.
I really have trouble listening to the US shows from 1995.
Eddie's voice is awful.380 -
I think the Gorge shows have to be on there.
I agree with most saying that '95 loses because of the voice, but Soldier Field still gets up there because it's freaking Soldier Field.
The '94 Boston show on 4/12 is pretty cool.
My personal vote goes to Grand Rapids 2006. That was just a crazy experience. It was like they came in and thought it was going to be another show, but the crowd was insane so they were pushed to another level. A prediction:
BonnarooAll I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

I think you have to consider if you are going off of soley listening to the boot or factoring in being there. For example, I think Newcastle 06 sounds great (San Diego 06 too).
While I can see Chicago 95 must have been wild, a pure listen IMO Eds voice gets in the way a bit. But still a top ten.
The dynamic changes when you have your own personal experiences in the mix.0 -
3.5 pages in and I'm the first one voting for The Vic?
MSG '98
Randalls Island
The Vic
Mansfield III
Soldier Field
Those five keep rotating in my mind, but in my heart The Vic wins because it was a night of a lifetime0 -

Eddie's voice is awful.
Agreed.
And it sucks too, because I'll be with some of my friends hanging out, and one of them will go to throw on that show because of how simply amazing that set list was. But each time im like "no no, eddie screeching is no good."
All I have to do is throw on the beginning of Corduroy for my perfect example2004 - 10/1, 10/11
2005 - 9/15, 9/16, 9/30, 10/1, 10/3

But for 2nd place I'm going with Boise 2000, it was two shows before seattle 2000. Barely any 10c members actually went to that show (thus most of those who did got awesome tickets). The Boise crowd was incredibly insane, and I think it easily topped Seattle II 2000
.
one of my fav corduroys ever, if not THE fav. i love the weird effect on the guitar that mike has when he comes in from the big build at the end. that was the first and only boise show right? they joke about playing there and say the crowd is crazy on that boot...ive listened to it a lot.
theres no way it beats seattle II though. just no way. i wish the seattle II had the full encore break on it, so you could hear how FUCKIN LOUD it was in there that night.Van '98, Sea I+II '00, Sea '01, Sea II '02, Van '03, Gorge, Van, Cal, Edm '05, Bos I+II, Phi I+II, DC, SF II+III, Port, Gorge I+II '06, DC, NY I+II '08, Sea I+II, Van, Ridge , LA III+IV' 09, Indy '10, Cal, Van '11, Lond, Van, Sea '13, Memphis '14, RRHOF '17, Sea I+II '18, Van I+II, Vegas I+II, Sea I+II '240 -
Saate college is the best i was the guy who held up ed for porch. is the last time I had a mans mid section in my face also. almost dropped him if you listen to the boot you hear him skip a line at the end.
Seattle 2 2000 was super emotional. On the boot you can hear ed talking about security messing with some folks. That would be me. they bother me sometimes.
virginia beach 2000 was obviously very emotional and a great show but you had to be there. Eds voice cracks in a lot of spaces and I am jsut glad I was in attendence to support the band.
Jones beach 2000 i thought night 2 was the best of the 3. Wth shows 2 and 3 being stellar.
Merriweather post 1998 was my first time being up close and is special to me. also philly/camden night 1 2000 was cool because that was the first time eddie came over to give me a pick. after 2 songs and it was cool. I was a stone fan most of all before going to shows. But being there I tended to interact with Eddie the most.
The Alive for Seattle 2 2000 you can hear the crowd gasp when the first note is played. Was very emotional mike nodded at me and gave the thumbs up and it all felt ok. It was like bitter sweet.
1. state college 2003
2. Seattle 2 20000 -
Soldier Field was without a doubt a great show
but the greatest show i ever attended was Halifax 2005
why?
because i was treated to a front row seat
from a chick who has seen PJ about 199 times (maybe more) or so, including SF
and even she agrees that Halifax was one of the best.. nuff said
btw, i think that every PJ show i have ever attended (16 so far) has been excellence beyond compare
this band fookin rox!!!Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green0
