Sucks some of you are saying the crowd sucked again. A crowd can make or break a performance. I'd take a mediocre setlist with an electric crowd over a setlist packed with rarities and a bunch of snoozing/uninterested fans. If you aren't into it, it really takes the energy out of the room, leaving more to be desired from the whole experience. I think crowds are half the fun at a concert. So people are saying "This song sucks," it really takes a bite out the whole experience.

    That's my two cents.
Completely and absolutely false!! The crowd was GREAT last night!!! Trust me, you would have had the time of your life last night with the rest of the crowd!!! Nothing took anything away from the AMAZING last two nights. With last night's show being the sweet sweet icing on the Seattle cake. The crowd was singing and dancing, and hand waving, and fist pumping ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Trust me, the crowd was into it!! We're not 18 years old crowd surfing and moshing anymore, but were very much into the show!!!

Lol, I'm not making anything up... the whole reason I spent "80% of my post" as you said earlier talking negative about the crowd was because I had to give you specifics. If I just said, "the crowd wasn't great," everyone would've laughed it off. I really wish I had none of what I said to say, but it was all happening around me.

You said before too that we must've been at "different shows" since you didn't experience anything I did... well, you're right, you were in the 12th row, I was in row 11... in section 107... totally different atmosphere up there... same absolutely amazing show from the band, different show experience with the crowd. All the shows I've been to in the past I was between rows 5 and 20, mostly around 15... or on the side but very near the stage and in a low row... (expect one time in Philly I was around row 30 on the floor, but the crowd was awesome there). Insignificane, Present Tense, Got Some, Go... about 80% of the people just below me and beside me from about rows 11 to 2 (the front row of the section seemed good) were sitting down... DURING THOSE SONGS! Can you imagine this anywhere around the 12th row? Of course not, ludicrous, insane, but it was around me. Can you imagine anyone around the 12th row yelling that a song is shit (during a quiet song mind you so everyone around heard)... of course not, but it happened in my section, and people around this guy were laughing WITH him. I didn't have 10c tickets b/c I stupidly thought they went on sale the day after they did, and this was the best I could get from ticketmaster.

I don't want to talk about it anymore - please don't ignore this: I LOVED the shows!! I paid out the ass for plane tickets for my g/f and I to Seattle, to upgrade my 205 section ticketmaster (I stupidly got the date confused and missed the 10c sale) tickets to 31st row floor 1st night, and for 2 nights hotel... but I have no regrets at all - it was worth every penny even in relatively shitty seats. The crowd didn't stop me or her from immensely enjoying every moment of the show, I just felt it should be at least mentioned (and expounded upon to explain) how my section was since it was part of my experience at the show.

My g/f has dealt with me being a PJ fanatic for 3 years... finally she got to see them live and now understands a lot more since she agrees they put on such an amazing show. However, I explained to her before the 1st show that as big of a fan as I am, probably more than 50% of the people at the show are bigger fans and devotes than me, have been to more shows, etc... Then she witnesses the fans around us and understandably doesn't quite see it. I'm sure 99% of it is just a function of our seats.

I seriously doubt I will have any of the same things to say after the LA shows as I expect the crowd to be much stronger in all areas of a much smaller venue. I cannot wait!! At least I'll have Backspacer on Rock Band tomorrow (PS3) to tie me over!
It makes much more sense... to live... in the present tense

Got back to SF not too long ago ... first thing I did was find someone's posting of "No Way" from last night.

Some folks are lucky enough to go to a lot of shows yet, you can get spoiled, you can become a little jaded at times ... but man, many of us live of those moments when we act like 13 year old school girls as I did when Ed started talking about what they were going to play, knowing it was leading into No Way (my girl said she'd never seen me like that, and I'm pretty excitable when it comes to sports and music).

Don't let No Way be the only thing taken away from this show ... night 2 was absolutely furious, you could tell how spent they were when they finished up.

    Some other highlights ...

Glad the horns have been added to The Real Me ... missed them in SF, nice touch.

Mike and Jeff chasing each other around during Spin The Black Circle, nice shout out to Easy Street before the song (glad I got to visit the imfamous West Seattle mecca).

Even though I couldn't hear what the hell he was saying, the new Supersonic lyrics were cool for Seattle.

All the folks that were in my section for night one that made the journey to the other side of the joint for night two ... made some friends in our section.

Anyway, like some others earlier in the thread, this was my 20th show, and it probably would rank out in the top 5.

Cheers to all I met over the long weekend!!!

  • Not sure about the whole "different sections, different crowds" idea. I was on the floor, row 27, and every time I looked up, I saw the whole stadium moving. For example, during DTE, the "sing in the choir" line had 18,000 people with both hands up in the air (minus a few that are too cool for that kind of thing). It was amazing.
  • I didn't get a chance to go to Night 1 and I was actually nervous about what they were going to play Night 2 since the Night 1 set looked pretty damn good. Oh my God did they prove me wrong. They played a bunch of songs I was dying to hear live. I remember back in 06 my friend wanted to hear Rearviewmirror and was complaining about them not playing it and I was like "well...at least they played Rearviewmirror more than 3 times!" I started freaking out when they started playing.

Crowd was pretty mellow around my area (Section 106 Row 27) although that wasn't too bad. This guy next to me brought their whole family along and I saw one of the kid "air guitar"-ing which I thought was kinda cute. I thought the crowd in general got really good around Not For You. Although people went apeshit with Porch.

I went with a buddy who is more of a casual PJ fan but he told me that while he thought that the band put on an amazing show, he wished he went the first day to catch Daughter, Alive and Small Town (It was the first time he was seeing them). Overall, fucking amazing show. Even considering all the bs surcharges from Ticketmaster it was still worth every penny. Hopefully the next time they come around (Maybe I'll consider driving to Vancouver or Portland next time) I will be able to get some 10C tickets. Thanks for another kickass show Pearl Jam! :D

I went to both shows, my friend and I from England sat in 114 the 1st night and 128 the 2nd night, last night was just a GREAT show and to the people that complain about the crowd or the crowd is lame, give me a freaking break, even if you think the crowd was lame last night (they weren't) the band was FULL of energy and played a GREAT show, so who gives a CRAP about the crowd or the people around you react at a show.

Everyone is different, I could give a crap if people next to me or in my section are going crazy or just have their hands crossed, I'm there for the MUSIC NOT to people watch. The show last night was five stars, I have no idea how many stars the crowd gets and don't really care, but they seemed fine to me.

  • Great show. Great setlist.

I loved Eddie calling out the Key for not letting people take beer to their seats. It was also great having the band show love for the Seattle Supersonics. Here's the vid I took before security busted me.

  • NO WAY!!! first time for me with that song.

while I liked night one.....night two was just off the charts.

Portland next.....will be number 44 for me. and being from P-town, I am really looking forward to sharing my obsession with 22 of my friends and family.

    see you all there.

Ultimately I don't care as I had a great time, but I felt the crowd was somewhat lackluster. Maybe it was just where I was sitting....I know the last Vancouver show seemed to have WAY more energy! Let's hope for that on Friday.

NO WAY!! A great song, maybe they're gotten the idea off this board (from someone) that we want to hear it, hope they play it in Australia. This would be a worthwhile boot to purchase, wish I'd been there. Sounds like it was a great show, no Even Flow or Corduroy, refreshing! :)

my thoughts on the show, one of epic proportions. Great set list, the band was having fun, the new songs sound awesome, the crowd was totally into the show, loud and proud of their hometown boys.

Pearl Jam, you guys really do ROCK! Thanks again for everything.

  • WOW, I had such a great time in Seattle. Finally seen Pearl Jam there for the 1st time! I really really enjoyed the hell out of that place. Kinda depressing coming home after such an amazing time. Night 1 was damn good, but night 2 was fucking AMAZING. Ive been to 31 shows. Seen some epic shows and night 2 was definitely one of the best shows I have been too.

Also, I thought all the Backspacer songs sounded damn good live. I know Im not alone there.

My jaw hit the floor when they played NO Way. I didnt see that coming. Im glad no one told me it was soundchecked because it was such an amazing surprise. That being played the other night and seeing Leash played for the first time in years n Boston 06 rank as 2 of my top Pearl Jam moments that I have experienced. Just insane. I have been trying to get out to Seattle for some time. Just let me say the wait was well worth it!

Met some great people at the pre-party too! OK, now bring on the 4 Philly shows!!!!!

Yeah, the scrapbook was something that the Wishlist team (predominantly Lisa/jaminaic) put together at the preparty beforehand, with a bunch of us taking happy snaps and leaving comments in the book as a gesture of thanks.

I read some others' entries while I was putting my own one in- we really are a corny lot :)

thats really cool, my brother told me about it, and he wrote a note and put one in from me ( since i couldn't be there) i'm sure they were both pretty corny!

  • NO WAY Oh shit, Oh you lucky bastards !!!!!!!!
  • What a great night! It was my nephew’s(16yo) first Pearl Jam show and he was beyond stoked to be going. He bought tickets off of Ticketmaster with his girlfriend and he knew I’d be going so we met up beforehand. What he didn’t know was that I was going to surprise him and trade tickets with him. Ok just for the opener, he is a big fan of Ben Harper, and ½ hour of Pearl Jam. (Let me insert a quick apology to those of you sitting in 227 row 17 – we had to leave and meet them to exchange tickets at the end of Not For You – sorry for the interruption). He was beyond thrilled, my seats were row 6 on Stone’s side – 5th & 6th seats in from the center. The look on his face was worth it – I know he’ll never forget his first PJ show. Unbelievable bad luck in that they played “No Way” while we were switching to our other seats…talk about bad timing.

Let me just say that as happy as I was to lend those seats to him for part of the show, I cannot believe how poor the sound is at the top of the Key. I wasn’t even half way back from the stage but really high up and the sound was really bad. These seats were right next to the stair way to the cat walk! It really makes me appreciate the tickets we get through 10C. I know we all say “just to be in the building” is awesome, but I don’t think I would pay the full ticket prices to sit that high up in that room. I wouldn’t mind as much not being able to see but when the sound is off it ruins everything. Anyway, I digress....

My feet hit the floor of the arena just as Ed sings the line “Gems & Rhinestones” I jumped off of the last stair with my fist in the air singing right along! Straight down the aisle to the center, hung a quick right to row 6 and made my way to my seats. The wife was probably not too thrilled with my running through the arena, but hey, I couldn’t help myself! Made it to my seats for the 2nd half of Unthought Known and just as we got into our seats I look up and am not only just excited now but this huge grin comes over my face as I look up to see Stone directly in front of me, Ed just to the left. Amazing. Then I hear it, my wife’s scream as she realizes how good it is to be 10C member  This shit never gets old!

    Highlights for me:

All of the new tracks sounded killer, absolutely perfect! So much energy behind them. UK has to be my favorite new track live ~ just stunning. A close second is Gonna See My Friend…which just killed the night before. All of them sound great.

Ed: “time for something a little more UP huh?”…”not so lucky…I want you to feel the pain” with a shit eatin’ grin on his face - then into Black, one of the best versions of Black ever. Hands down. I’ve seen them perform that song a dozen times at least and I can’t recall a better version.

Mike –totally into it and enjoying the show and the crowd. I did notice both nights that those in front of Mike were going nuts the whole show…I have no doubt when we watch him play we are truly watching one of the greatest guitar players ever. He has turned into a true showman on stage and has the chops to back it up. Someone else said this too, but his solo on YL was….I got chills.

Ed came back after first intermission, smiled and said something like “sorry for the long break…we had to have an argument” and behind him Jeff pumps his fist and grins like he won. Love that. Then into “Just Breathe” and “The End” both were startlingly emotional and raw. Maybe they just hit me harder night two because I was with the wife and night one was with a buddy. But both of those songs are amazing. Couldn’t really hear the strings as well on night 2 as night one but that could be because of where we were on the floor..?

I know it’s hard to pick up on if you aren’t near the front but the interplay between the band, just the looks, nods, non-verbal communication was really cool to see. They all looked like they were happy to be there and enjoying every second. All of us old timers that have been around forever and seen multiple shows from this vantage point are really lucky. There is no way you can pick up on this type of stuff from the rafters.

Loved the Beer rant..so appropriate. With the lead into Supersonic – Seattle Edition – so good. Watching Ed’s face grinning as he tries to read the “new” lyrics – classic. I remember something about “bought my tickets but the game was gone” and the mention of “ they couldn’t even leave us the fucking banners”???

While I love Baba O’Riley, I have no problem with it being replaced by The Real Me. I think Ed sings The Real Me better and the energy is so off the charts. Absolutely love this cover.

Still love it when they are going full force with the house lights down and nothing but the white stage lights on them. Surreal. Pure Rock Power.

Ok I’m done. Thanks PJ. Thanks 10C. See you all at the Portland show in Vancouver, WA  ~ and in San Diego.
  • It was incredible, INCREDIBLE!!

No Way...amazing, the drunk guy next to me actually went to the bathroom during it!! Unbelievable.

The crowd was great, the band was great, the set list was amazing. One of the best shows I've been to and no Evenflow!

You must have been sitting near my friend and the girl we sold his extra ticket to - who litterally pisses themselves during a Pearl Jam show?! I mean, I've said several times, "This is so amazing I could just pee my pants" but I've never actually done it! Maybe it was a good thing they didn't allow beer in the bowl... They complained about it so security let them stand up on the far left side of the stage, probably 4-5 rows back. Not a bad reward for someone peeing on you :)

I was a lucky, lucky, LUCKY lottery winner. I've been a member for 10 years and I've attended 20 shows and the closest my seats have ever been were row 6 at Fargo (far, far Stone's side - past where friends and families sit). Night two, second row, Mike's side!!! Made eye contact several times, got a guitar pick, Eddie smiled at my friend and myself (probably because we were smiling so huge). Basically, it was the best night of my life. Somtimes as an opener!! NO WAY! I was happy enough to ear that during soundcheck from outside the Key Arena - much less in real life! I couldn't believe the night was happening to me and now I could not be more greatful and thankful. I love you, Ten Club. I love you, Pearl Jam. Thank you for giving so much of yourselves to us!!

  • Sorry, if it's been asked, but what's the obsession with "The Real Me" every set? I like the Who, but that's one of those songs where if I hear it on the radio, I instantly change stations. They do so many other covers that blow doors down, why stick with the Real Me? I don't get it. How about a little Squeezebox or Let My Love Open the Door or You'd Better, You Bet?
Change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.

I was not fortunate enough to be at either show, but reading this helps soothe the pain. I have to cope somehow!! So, thank you for putting the time into this.

Photos, videos, and recaps written lovingly will have to hold me over for now...

100% better than night #1...turned it up a few notches! Real headbanging music...Highlights...Lukin, Comotose and Porch were off the hook! I was concerned after night #1, but this made up for it..Im not sure why DTE was repeated, weird. Really not feeling the new stuff either..too "poppy" although I do love Just Breathe so far..Give me a week to digest the new stuff though, then I should have a better
I had GREAT seats!!! section 128 row #1...
I knew all the rules, but the rules did not know me...GUARANTEED!
