I can't believe they played No Way! I saw them play it in 98 in Atlanta and it was awesome. Great set list both nights but night two looks to be the winner. Will have to order this boot for sure.0
-
The good:
- Wow!!! What a setlist! So much better than night 1!
- Band's energy
- No Way!!! 11 years since, wow, and they nailed it!
- Supersonic w/ lyrics just for Seattle, although I only understood a little of it, looking forward to the bootleg to hear them better.
- Present Tense, In My Tree, and Faithful (3 of my favorite 5 songs in 1 night! (0 the night before)
- Go, STBC, Comatose - tonight just semmed to ROCK more than last night
- I only remember one small lyric flub, there were lots on night 1 - Ed probably realized how many flubs he did night 1 and was much more prepared
The bad:
- Repeating Just Breathe, The End, and The Real Me since they had the extra musicians here in Seattle for them... understandable and all 3 were awesome, just a slight negative to the night since we always hope they don't repeat any songs :-)
- The crowd sdfghjdfghjdfgh... ok, so I was in section 106, row 11 to be exact, worst seats I've ever had in my 23 shows, but I try not to let that bother me, I was going nuts throughout... but I guess I need to come to expect that the crowd around me will suck when I'm not in the 1st 20 rows. For example, two women in front of us were sitting down for at least half the show and texting all the time, they left after the 1st encore too. About 40 - 50 people in front of us sat down during Insignificance!!! and didn't get back up until Black. Unbelievable! Lots of people behind us were yelling shit during Just Breathe and The End b/c the band was playing slower songs. I quote one loud yell from behind at the start of The End, "This sucks. They played this same shitty song last night." They were several rows behind me and a ways over, but I could hear them talking, most talking shit, all through both songs. Very frustrating. Also, I seemed to be the only one in the area singing at all (except during the obvious crowd sing alongs).
- Ed seemed to acknowledge the disappointing crowd a little. He tried a call and response during Not For You, and when he didn't get much of a response, he gave up immediately. I believe he also acknowedged that the crowd wasn't much into the slow songs when after The End, he said something like, I know u guys want something faster, but u.r out of luck as they went into Black. He was joking with us, but I expect he was pretty disappointed too.
Overall:
- Loved the show, the band was amazing as always, the setlist was one of the best at any show I've been to, and I had an awesome time as did my g/f at her 2nd show. However, and she feels stronger about this than me, the energy from the crowd was rather weak for a PJ show.It makes much more sense... to live... in the present tense0 -
What's up with the Seattle crowds? Seems like both nights people were complaining, are the crowds usually this bad or low key at Seattle concerts?0
-
No Even Flow, No Corduroy, No Alive, No Better Man, No Daughter... AWESOME, finally!(I guess someone took notice of the No Even Flow shirt guy in Chicago)... When was the last time that's happened at a proper full length show... Like never? lol I loved those spaces filled with other stuff tonight, and hope it becomes the norm now

Great show tonight. Haven't seen it mentioned here, but EV said it was the bands 50th show in Seattle tonight...
Wouldve been nice if by acknowledging Springsteens 60th birthday, they wouldve done one of his songs instead of The Real Me by The Who(or in addition to)... Cmon now!!!
Ames poster tonight was good again, but I like last nights better.
The Shawn Kemp poster was better than both though...
The local Seattle tshirt is awesome, and a tribute to the Sonics... Wish I had one... Better than last nights
If they didn't end with YL it wouldve even been more monumental with those staples all not being played this evening.
All in all a really great show. Night 2 much much better than night 1 , which I thought was very standard.0 -
The crowds were fine. I don't get all the negativity about the crowd. The crowd was great both night. Some people just expect S.America like crowds everywhere.ScottBravesFan wrote:What's up with the Seattle crowds? JonTurner, you are smoking crack! Ed never made any kind of mention or acknowledgment of a "bad crowd." You need to stop concerning yourself with the other people there, and pay more attention to the band. And whats up, were you at the same show I was at; you review was 80% bad review???? Seriously, what show did you go to??
Tonight was fucking IN-FUCKING-SANE!!! The setlist was out of this world!! No Way!!!!! I cannot believe they played that, and they NAILED IT!!! A completely different show from the night before. Night 2 definitely out did night 1!!! Just an incredible night!!!! And from where I was at (row 12 floor AA again - thank you Ten Club!!), the crowd was having the best time rocking out the whole time!!! Thanks to my neighbors for a GREAT couple of nights!!!

I think these "crowd complainers" are there to see the crowd, not the band. :roll:ScottBravesFan wrote:What's up with the Seattle crowds? Seems like both nights people were complaining, are the crowds usually this bad or low key at Seattle concerts?0 -
Also, no complaints here but somehow it seems like everyone that was in row 15 or further back on the floor got pushed to the side stage section. Interesting. Just wonder how that happened. Loved my seats tonight but always fun to figure out how they did the seating when someone who was in row 12, got put in row 12 again, but us in row 15 were put to the side stage. Anyone else have this happen? Curious to see if anyone beyond row 15 night 1 had their same seats night 2.
Again no complaints, just an observation really...greattt night0 -
as for the crowd.....fuck, it's a monday and tuesday night. most of PJ's fans are older now. It gets harder to raise hell for a night and make it to work the next day the older you get."All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.0

Playing No Way is surprising, but not playing Alive and Even Flow on the same night is more impressing0

My favorite moment came when Mike posed for a picture right in the middle of Spin the Black Circle. Really funny. Is there anyone who has more fun than Mike?
Great to listen to No Way for the first time (I think). Maybe the played it Maui 98 or something?
Pretty sure this was show number 20 for me. I'll see some of you in Portland.

Sucks some of you are saying the crowd sucked again. A crowd can make or break a performance. I'd take a mediocre setlist with an electric crowd over a setlist packed with rarities and a bunch of snoozing/uninterested fans. If you aren't into it, it really takes the energy out of the room, leaving more to be desired from the whole experience. I think crowds are half the fun at a concert. So people are saying "This song sucks," it really takes a bite out the whole experience.
That's my two cents.0 -
I LOVE that set list
wow-no betterman, corduroy, crazy mary, even flow, daughter, alive
this sequence is perfect
Faithfull, Lukin, Not For You/("Modern Girl" by Sleater-Kinney), No Way,
wow0 -
Anyone remember if Ed said anything before playing No Way or did they just go right into it?0
