the only time i have ever purposely bought a 2nd copy of an album, was simply b/c i had already purchased the 10c version of s/t, and then to get a ticket to the irving plaza gig, had to buy a CD at tower records. small price to pay to get into irving plaza. i do also own 2 copies of ten, but that's simply b/c one was given out as a freebie at the pj/robin hood gig at the beacon in 2008. otherwise, no, i would not buy more than one, no reason to. i know making different packaging/versions is to hype sales and all, but no way am i spending my hard-earned $$$ for slightly different versions of the same thing. i spend plenty of $$$ on this band thru CD purchases, show merch, posters, tickets, etc....they don't need any more of my $$$ thru additional/extra CD sales. :P
my number was first week sales, and I'm gonna stick with around 120k. and this is mostly because people buy multiple copies.
to entertain the thought of a million being sold already is a fucking joke. michael jackson didn't sell that much when he died, and the beatles sold 600,00 copies of their back catalog the 1st week.

Stone confirmed this in an interview, Target guaranteed 1 million records
WOW. Seriously? Okay, so that basically means... what... Target is going to keep selling this thing until they are all gone. I may be crazy, but that sounds like a fantastic deal to me. Doesn't that pretty much guarantee a Platinum record?
1 million worldwide until the end of the year? yes, sure

That is a great deal for the band. But no, that doesn't mean platinum. That goes by the Soundscan reports on what has been sold to the end buyer.

Buying multiple copies (other than having it in multiple formats) is weird and creepy.

Eddie: Dublin & London
so basically, they got $5 million to deliver the record to target. Weren't they guaranteed $5 a pop?
