Target Greatland in Troy, MI did not have the shirts, but had plenty of vinyl LP's, singles and CD's. I called and talked with the electronics department after reading on here about the mixups, and the guy was very nice. Went in back and checked and asked around, but they did not have them yet. He suggested calling back tomorrow morning because they do get Sunday night shipments.
BTW, the vinyl is not exclusive to Target, the local indie shops have it, too!
my Target in Seattle knew exactly what was going on when I was waiting at for the doors to open at 8:00 AM. The person I asked radioed back to the employee that was bringing out the box of shirts and she got me a medium. There were hardly any shirts in the box, glad I got there first thing.
After driving to three different Targets this morning, I came onto the forum and saw the list of "participating" Target stores and I realized there was one about 15 minutes away that was on the list (I live in Southern California, where Targets are all over the place).
I drove down to the store and they had a nice little Backspacer display. Tons of CDs, Rock Band, a double-shelf for vinyl (which was empty, either because they had sold out or, more likely, never arrived), and a shelf at the bottom for t-shirts.
There were only two shirts left. Picked up a Large for myself and an XL for someone on here who got shut out. So if you wanted a shirt and couldn't get one, and are willing to PayPal me $20 for it (I paid $19.99), and promise not to re-sell it on eBay, PM me and I'll hook you up.

You see many will tell me people can do with the shit they buy whatever they want and it may be true, but the cool thing to do IMO would have been to offer it here for $20 plus shipping that's it, not buy the t-shirt and put it up on ebay to see how much you can get it for it.... :? but of course that's just IMHO

This will be my last post on this particular topic because communicating w/ some of you is like repeatedly banging your head against a brick wall...
I don't know how to articulate any better than this, so here it goes:
1. It wasn't a cd, it was a 12 inch lp and for the third time, I didn't realize it hadn't been properly paid for until after (can't stress that enough) I got home.
2. Yes it would have taken 2 hours; 1 hour to get there, 1 hour to get back = hence a 2 hour round trip.
3. I didn't go to 3 stores; I said my husband went to one (#1) and I went to two others (#2 & #3).
4.For those who feel PJ got ripped off; I'm sorry, but that's incorrect. Before the PJ merchandise was even shipped and accepted by the Target receiving dept., PJ got paid every penny for the product. Target will take the loss, not PJ.
5. I am absolutely correct in the assessment that if I went back to Target and told them the store associate did not ring up the product, that the Target employee who made the mistake would be terminated. If you don't believe me, please feel free to contact your local Target and ask to be transferred to their Loss/Lost Prevention Dept. Use my story as a hypothetical. See what they say. Better yet, I understand that this forum actually has some Target employees who post here; ask them. I know what I'm talking about... do you?
As for the limit of shirts you may buy, I can understand that because they're in limited quantity, however I just don't appreciate being told there is a policy of 1 per person when
a. it wasn't stated anywhere (i.e. ad/online/display or even in the 10c email)
b. what is the point of making a "store policy" that other Target's clearly didn't follow (I've read quite a few posts from other members where they've stated that they themselves purchased more than one shirt at a time).
Also, I won't mention the name of the member who posted this (for fear he will also be bombarded w/ nasty, judgemental comments like I have), but this person had the same intention of purchasing their merchandise at Target (which happened to be the limited edition shirt in their case) that they got w/out paying for. I believe their quote stated that the mngr. "couponed it off" because the Target mngr. was under the impression that the shirt came free w/ purchasing the cd. Now even though this was clearly a mistake made by the store employee and not him, is this person also a "thief" who "stole" from the store, PJ, and the charity Feeding America by letting the store give it to him for free even though I'm sure he now realizes that he shouldn't have received it for free? I think not. The store made the error, he got lucky. Done and done.
@kauffee: Thank you, that's exactly what took place.
@Snoopy Died For Our Sins: Yes, I indeed needed both! Also, your cousin is correct; thanks for adding that.
So with all that said, what's ridiculous is the super judgemental's who came out of the wood work "to let me have it." Do you feel better now? It must be so pretty sitting on your high moral ground... I'll just assume you're all perfect like Jesus, but in the event that I'm wrong and you're not perfect; please allow me to remind you (and geez this is coming from an atheist) that "Judge not lest ye be judged" or better yet "Let he who is w/out sin cast the first stone"; whichever one works for ya...
I was lucky enough to find a Target where they had 3 shirts left. I bought an extra one so I'm selling it if anyone is still looking. http://theposterofthislinkisadouchebag.com
Wow classy to hide an ebay link in there...
I'm not hiding anything. I use tinyurl for almost everything. It's just an easier link to remember. Sorry for trying to help a collector pick up an item they can't find. Besides, it's not like I'm charging $100 for the shirt.
To the people in the Detroit area, they have some (or did earlier today) in Rochester. The sales person at the Troy store said they didn't have any and pointed to Rochester (which wasn't on the list). They are in the electronic section balled up in rubber bands.
You felt like somebody owed you something because you could only buy 1 shirt. Be a grown up and pay for the record
Ok, how would you know "how I felt"? Are you a mind reader? Do you know how I feel now?... That I think you're apparently not that bright because you don't know how to read the English language in my post. How about that for feelings...
The Target associatte was the one who put it in my bag (w/ the rest of my purchase) after not scanning it and I didn't realize it until later. My intention was to pay for it, just like the rest of the items I placed on the checkout counter and paid for. I didn't feel that Target owed me anything because I could only purchase one shirt, but I also feel I shouldn't have to waste the expensive gas in my car and another 2 hour round trip of my time to correct an error that clearly wasn't my fault.
Also, you must have never worked in a corporate retail setting before. I'm a service mngr. at Meijer (so I would know this), if I go back to Target now and tell them what happened:
A. Not only will they not make me pay for it (lucky break for me)
B. The mngr. that rang up my purchase will be terminated. Target's Loss/Lost Prevention Dept. (It's called Lost Prevention at my store) will go out of their way to track the tickertape in the register confirming that that album wasn't scanned, they will confront the mngr. who screwed up with the video recording of the register's transactions also confirming that she didn't scan it and then put it in my bag, and with all of that; unintentional accident or not will terminate her employment. Lost Prevention will consider this a "theft" on the mngr.'s part. Target will have to take that loss and as a consequence will fire her. Considering that most stolen items at major retail stores are done by employess themselves: the LP Dept. will consider this an "inside job". I know this because we have stupid employees at my store who have done this, accident or not. Plus, if I did go back, the store would not only definately terminate her, but could very well prosecute her for what Target would consider "stolen merchandise".
So please, spare me the "good scruples" speech. If anything now, I'm saving this lady's job.
You only went to target to pick up the shirts and cd (you made note thats the only reason you went) the cd was 12 bucks and the shirt is 20. The math in your head shouldve said hmmm the t shirt and cd for 20 bucks, somethings not right. Now the typical response to what im saying is "well i went and bought more than the cd and shirt" but i wont buy that for a second. You said you went to target for the sole purpose of buying the shirt, 3 of them in fact.
Hmmm, another mind reader eh? I would like you to point out where in my posts I stated "my sole purpose" was to only purchase the album and tshirt because you're wrong. I bought a shirt, the cd, the lp, the Fixer single, a Borat dvd, tampons, deodorant, toothpaste, and a pregnancy test. I just didn't feel the need to put all this in my first post because frankly I didn't think anyone would care, but now that I know you are so interested in what I purchase; I'll be more than happy to give you a detailed PM of my upcoming grocery purchase if you wish...
you STILL bought a LIMITED amount of items that doesnt explain why you didnt put 2 and 2 together and realize that hey... "that really is a low price for what im purchasing" stop being a whiner and so defensive when NOBODY here thinks it is cool that you "got the album for free". Its funny how you chose to only read a SELECT paragraph that i wrote and ignored the facts. Be a moral person and pay for it. Typing 3 paragraphs of blah blah blah here still doesnt make up for the fact that you thought it was cool cuz you screwed target out of a cd. You must be real proud of yourself....

You're hiding it because otherwise you would have said 'to those who can't find it bend over because i have something for you on ebay.' Come on now... and you're not charging anything because its an auction. Easy to say you're not charging more than you paid when you start it at the cost in-stores, but that doesn't make it true.
1. It wasn't a cd, it was a 12 inch lp and for the third time, I didn't realize it hadn't been properly paid for until after (can't stress that enough) I got home.
So instead of a $12 item it was a $20 item - yeah, that's better.
Anyway.. my annoyance with you was more that your original post made it seem like you were bragging that you got it for free after you tried to buy 20% of their shirts in one shot and yelled at the manager for not allowing you to buy 20% of their allotment of shirts. That and you yelled at the manager for trying to make sure others might have a chance.
But that's just me... I like the limit of 1 per so that more people have a shot at them.
I know what I'm talking about... do you?
Actually, that's wrong. I work Assets Protection (what you call Loss Prevention) at a Target. The employee won't get let go for accidentally failing to ring up the album. I know this for a fact...so don't let that stop you from going to pay for it
Also, if you paid in cash for what WAS rung up it could look like theft, the theory being that someone that pays cash knows what they paid in and sees the change they get and thus would realize if something wasn't rung up. But their AP staff would see it on their tape if you clearly put it on the conveyor and the album wasn't rung up. If you tried some tricky stuff that's another story, but if you put it on the conveyor then don't worry, you won't have a record or anything.
Hope that helps clear that all up!

If you go back and read your earlier posts, you can see all of the inconsistencies in your story. You claim that you did not know about the free LP until after you got home but bragged about it on the forum well before you went to the Palatine store. You then say that your issue wasn't with the 1 shirt per person limit but with the fact that the limit was not communicated. Again, you obviously knew about the limit when you went to the second Target store in Palatine but decided to talk your way out of it anyways.
If you truly feel bad about getting the LP for free, here's an idea. Instead of going back to Target and potentially getting someone fired or in trouble, why not donate the $20 cost of the LP to Feeding America. After all, that was the point of this whole T-shirt promotion. I will even match your donation with one of my own.
Went to Target here in Lexington, KY around 7:30PM. They have a big display full of cds & rock band. I didn't see any LPs. They had the t-shirts behind the register, I only saw 2 or 3. Luckily one of them was a large. It does appear fairly small, very cool design though.
This is not intended for everyone, so I apologize in advance; it's only for those chosen few "judgy folks" (and you know who you are).

So, I went into the store yesterday looking for a big display, found nothing. I saw the CDS (Backspacer and Fixer single) but no LPs. I went to customer service and asked where the PJ shirts were, they called someone over and they said in electronics. So, then I went to the electronics counter and hit the help button. A nice lady walked up and before I even opened my mouth she said "Pearl Jam shirt?" - sweet. The had them in a box behind the counter. I bought an XL (really, more like a large). $19.99 was the price.

Instead of going back to Target and potentially getting someone fired or in trouble, why not donate the $20 cost of the LP to Feeding America. After all, that was the point of this whole T-shirt promotion. I will even match your donation with one of my own.
so still no apology then? how sad to be you

i'm just sayin - please stop this madness. my happy place is being muddied.
For what its worth.
